Need Help Post Dynoflash

just got dynoflashed last night. encountered a problem though, my MBC wasnt holding boost well, was only holding 16psi's. no boost leaks whatsoever.
Al, did a good custom tune though but it only boosts 16 psi all the way thru the redline.
my question is, if i get an MBC that holds boost to 20 psi, will that screw the settings that Al did to the ecu? i mean will i be running too lean if i get to hold boost at 20 psi's. i'm new to this turbo thing. neede help. thanks.

you should try posting this in the dynoflash section where big Al can help you himself. I dont' know if you realize but this is the for sale/wanted section.

The tune should be good for 20.5psi, he probably did some more fine tuning in your boost range. Get a good MBC on there and it will hold 19 or so to redline. Mods will move this to dynoflash forum.

Do not worry my young fried, your boot falling is very common and we se that on a lot o the crappy boost contollers which do not have a properly calibraed spring

If you wnt a hassel free MBC - try he Bushur one or the Hallman

Your tune was xcelent and i used it as base map for a couple of other evos ith boost faling off boos ontroller situations - they performe VERY well

I have areay djuste your fel adn ign mps so that when you correct this problem your ar ill run perfet
Of orse it is alays betterto ave he car uning 100% BEFORE you come or custom tuning - this is what i recomend - However since yor situatio seems vey vey common I am used o seeing this quiet often

One guy's boos controller - TubroXS ws o bad and so difficult o adjust that we had o borrow a boost contoller off another car to do his tune
Its HIGHLY recomended that you guys get the ars holding a steady boost level of 19'5psi peak and falling a psi or two - BEFORE the tuning sesssion

I stongly recomend the HKS EVC V EBC , Turbosmat Eboost
and the buschur MBC, Hallman and AMS

Enjoy your whip ~

What kind of boost controller did you have? My guess would be the TurboXS HPBC.

Let me know, cause Al couldn't figure out how mine worked either (sorry Al)

It 's not really a matter of "figuring it out"

I used that boost control many moons ago on my record setting WRX/STI conversion - it worked fine - lets say adequate on that application

I just personallythink the springs in it need to be re-calibrated for the Evo - I have seen numerous cars with the TX's MBC on it and i really do not care for the turbo XS nit what so ever

After seeing the rock steady boost holding and accuracy of the hallaman and the buschur and the amazing bang for the buck $30 AMS MBC - and many others I just do not like the way the TX's MBC works - period

Other boost controllers which i can not stand are the Joe P; Greddy MBC and Turbonetics

Honestly - I can notremember which type of MBC that this particular customer was using - maybe he can filll us in

IN ANY EVENT - everyone should know by now that I DO NOT RECOMEND MBC's at all

The best and most effective manner in which o proceed is get the HKS EVC V or the Turbo smart E boost

MBC's are not consistant enough - IMHO and need to be constantly fine tuned

I would not consider a MBC in my car under any circumstances

That being said - I recomend the Hallman, Buschur and AMS units if you insist on having a MBC

Thanks

So do you remember which TurboXS model it was? Was it the one w/ the 2 adjustments?

Don't know if you remember my car at the AMS meet, the blue one w/ the Simpson racing harnesses in it. I had the TurboXS HPBC and the best you could get the car to hold boost was 16 psi steady, after the initial spike to 19 psi. You spoke w/ me about getting a different boost controller, and you even left a note in my car about this since I was unable to attend the tuning session.

It took me about 30 secs of under-the-hood adjustment to get it to hold a steady 19.5 psi (w/ a brief initial spike to 20.5 psi).

All I'm offering is to help out a fellow Evo owner who _might_ have the same boost controller I have. A boost controller that gave you problems.

What's wrong with that?

I have a Hallman MBC and it holds boost at 22psi wonderfully..with the stock BOV

With that being said, Al, what is the highest boost that you would recommend running on my Dynoflashed (at Agile) car with Sunoco 94?
