i was at the Mitsubishi Shootout at englishtown and i encountered some problems unfortely....my first problem was i found out i had been running 26-27 PSI for a month about 3 weeks ago when i changed boost guages, so think that has a lot to do with it..my first run i ran a 12.8@104.9????? with a 1.74 60ft....now i have full turboback no cat, intake, Dynoflash,Buschur FMIC, MBC set to 23 PSI, right at the end of each run after crossing the 1/4 mile marker i would see tons of white cloudy smoke pouring from the exhasut pipe....so i let it sit, checked everything and ran again, next run 13.0@103.9 with 1.77 60ft.....getting slower and even more smoke at the end, this tiem the smoke didnt stop for a little bit longer, so being the idiot i am i ran a 3rd time and ran a 13.5@102.6 and tons of smoke at the end and the guy i raced with a white evo flashed me and we pulled over buy the weighing station there and he said "damn dude, it looks like you blew a head gasket and smells like you did too, that sucks!" wouldnt that explain the ****ty ET's considering i had good launches on my new ACT hitting 1.7 60ft but its dying out and the tons of smoke??? anyone ever run into this problem?? any info would help out greatly i have to tell them what i think is wrong, thanks guys...
You may have just dusted the oil seal in the turbo... i recently did this. It's not common but does happen. I had to get a new cartridge and i was back in business. Check you're downpipe for any signs of oil as that may be your problem. If it isn't then good luck to you as I hope you did only damage a head gasket.

Dude , your head bolts stretched out while running that high of a boost for a long period of time causing coolant to leak into the cylinders and burnout through the exhaust. Hence the white smoke and sweet smell of burning coolant.
I think the max boost you can run w/out upgraded head bolts is 23psi but I think thats pushing it. What kind of gauge are you using?

auto meter boost guage.......so what do you think needs replaced...head bolts and gasket? it was deffinately runnning at least 26 PSI i made 330whp 362 ft lbs on the dyno, theres no way with my modds i would hit that high unless running that boost so im pretty sure thats the problem.
Evo8: Compression test the motor first. See If coolant is low. If compression shows leak down, Remove cylinder head, Replace Head gasket, and at least change to ARP-or equivalent head bolts. Did coolant temps rise during your over boost?? If the motor overheated you could have damaged the cylinder head also. Pull all that boost out, unless you are going to upgrade to handle more. Do a search on head gaskets, there are better ones than the
OEM one.
OEM one.

i love the clutch, had never even launched it yet only had 250 miles on it and i got 2 1.73 60ft. and could have done beter if car was f-up......but this car has been giving me problems since i found out about the boost problem i had, i know its my fault but oh well, we will rip open thwe motor, do the gasket, cams, AFC, MA pipe, ALs gonna reflash it, and i shoudl be ready for my low 12. thanks for the help guys...
You are taking responsibility for your f-up. I guess Al should thank Shiv for this lesson you learned. I guess you don't want to **** off another qualified tuner and have a slow Evo for life as a result. I am glad to hear that your maturation is in an evolved state and you have learned a lesson from all of your past antics with other tuners. BTW I don't know you but can you post this on the NASioc site. I notice you post over there (Al Style) about your great dyno runs and pulling on Stis slobarus etc. You know the my car is better than yours style that you and Al have mastered. But why don't you post the bad stuff over there or will that damage your premise of my car is better than yours. Just a thought and I do hope the damage doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. Big Macs are already too expensive and I wouldn't want to see you passing your Evo expenses down on the poor customers like me. But for real good luck and this post is all meant to be humorous in an eye opening way.

your rite i have to admit.....i was an *** in the begining and i talked a lot of ****....but i also have learned, even though i still and will blame Shiv for not helping out and offering answers with some preoblems i had but thats in the past.....my guage was messed up, i blew a clutch, and hopefully some other seal tot he turbo thats leaking and not the head gasket, cause we did dropp the whole exhasut fri night to do the clutch so hopefully somethings not sealed properly and thats causeing the smoke and low performnace issues....we will find out Mon, im getting a compression test at the dealer..ill post up whats wrong..
Evo8powa, **** off Al and Works will have a new customer. And i know they are a bit on the conservative side for your taste if they were for my conservative ***. Good luck and keep us posted.BTW If Shiv would of custom tuned your car you would of been very happy with the results. To bad you live so far away. Dynoflash is closer and I think he has Pruven that he can make an Evo fast.(pun intended). IT is a no brainer that Al should get your business and if i lived out that way I would of used him also. Both are competent tuners with slightly different approaches at achieveing good whp gains. Also out their on the East coast what kinda times are the Stis puttin down. Out here I have yet to see a 12 sec pass. 13.2-13.3 in the low 100s is best I have seen. Most trap high 90s.
