buschur intake vs k&n drop in filter
The additional turbulance caused by any Cone Filter will throw off the MAF sensor signals, in most cases causing the car to run lean across the middle. Therefore a tuner must account for these miscalculations by adding fuel at these lean spots so yes, you would need a different flash unless you have access to an S-AFC. My advice would be to stay with the K&N filter, much simpler overall and comparable enough power wise.
Very interestingly - just TODAY we had a guy in who previosuly was tuned 10 days ago with a 3" exhuast, fuel pump, boost controller and HKS RS intake kit with 305 ft lbs and 304 whp
he did not care for the HKS sound when the stock bov was venting - you can hear it very loudly in comparsion to the stock one
So he took off the HKS and re-installed his stock air box and K & N filter
Today I retuned his car - all other mods same and same boost point as before
HE LOST 10 whp after 5500 rpms and 1 ft lbs of trq
Up to 5500 the power band was the same
This result is typical of what I would expect
THE HKS RS and the Buschur intake kit yield just about the same results on the dyno
