Have al tune it for race gas? - Help

I'm seriously thinking about having my car tuned for race gas... Just curious as to what kind of boost I would have to run on the standard 93..

For Example 20psi on 96 = 17 safely on 93???

Anyone do this, or have any comments... I may be way off, but it would be really nice to maximize my setup for track use......

Are you asking what boost levels you can run on a given octane rating? I run 20 psi with a spike to 21 psi on 93. I have no experience with different boost levels with race gas so I wont give you false info.

If you are asking questions about your set-up and what a Dynoflash for race fuel could do, this thread should be in the Dynoflash forum. --moving it now.

Well no exactly what I mean but close..

For example, if you have your car tuned for 96 octane, you can run more timing and leaner than on pump 93..... Giving the increased timing, I am asking if I can still drive it under lower boost safely-93 Octane. If had it tuned for 96 and ran 93instead, it would really detonate at a full 20psi at full boost... My question is under the same tune, can I get away with 16-17lbs of boost on 93 without detonating..

Not sure if I'm making any sense....

I may be thinking backwards... Most people do a tune add race gas and up the boost...

I just thought about it.. I guess timing will still be increased at lower boost levels, so it doesn't matter... 93Oct + lower boost but higher timing still = boom!

I swear I think about thi scrap way to much! HA HA

I'm guessing it would only work if tou tune it for race gas and stay out of boost period for everyday driving (for me that is impossible)

We have at least a dozen customers with race gas tunes

The good part is they pull like a mo fo when you run the race gas

The bad pat is that I recoenmnd you stay OFF boost 100% if not running race gas

I have no problem doing that with my own car

I drove it from Chicago to my house in CT for example without hitting boost once

This kind of tune is only for someone who uses the car as a 2nd or 3rd car and wants the ultimate in performance and has lots of discipline to not boost it on pump gas

Al,

Once we get my 93 oct tune dialed in on Saturday, I would like to add a couple of gallons of Toluene and up the boost 1-2lbs and make a few passes with your datalogger hooked up to make sure its safe.

It would be would be cool to have two settings... I could mark my MBC in two spots (-: 93 and 96 octane...

What do you think????

Now Im on the same page with ya. Good question, you are not the only one that thinks like that. That was a question I asked myself when I got my flash done. "Hmmm since it not my daily driver should I tune it for race gas?" Well I ended up tuning it for 93. I dont think Im disciplined enough to stay out of the boost if I was tuned for race gas and had 93 in the tank.

Or just use a s-afc ii along with Al's flash And put the map in for whenever you run the race gas and pump the boost up with your boost controller.
