Dyno proof HKS RS Intake vs. K & N drop in - 11 whp difference
If the hood is open when doing this test, it is not going to be accurate at all. Furthermore without 50, 70, 90 mph air speed hitting the front of the car, it will not be accurate as well, just the same as it is for intercoolers, or those intercooler sprayers. In these cases the dyno just cannot accurately depict what the car will do in a real-world situation. Dynos are very good to test most items, but air intakes are not one of them.
This is not to say which one is better, and I am not suggesting that the stock intake is better, because it may not be, but there is not enough testing info given to make an accurate assesment.

Not only do we see the gains on the dyno - we feel them on the road and also you can see the gains shown in the timeslips at the track
I am 100% confident of the figures which I have quoted
For those who have the typhoon I am sorry.....I have one myself. After looking into the tube (and anyone can tell me if I am wrong) there is a small half circle welded inside the tube. It is supposed to create the flow of the air in a typhoon type motion (clockwise I think) however our turbo's are reversed and the air should be going in counter clockwise motion...therefore it's fighting itself to get the right air in. I thought my intake worked fine, and it did, but I just put the stock tube back in, and it feels much better now. This of course is the butt dyno, but if I get a chance to get a new dyno I will post it.
It seems to pull a little better now. Not a huge jump in whp but enough to feel the difference.
Go HKS RS all the way. my friends have it on their evos. It is the best intake out there...take it from the guy who made the mistake and bought the wrong one.

VISHNU tuning actually recommends the stock intake set-up with a Drop in filter. I am hearing all good things about the HKS rs however. is there a significant difference with either of the two compared to stock? HELP ME MAKE A GOOD CHOICE!

Aftermarket intakes offer better power, better looks and more noise
I can tune either a stock one of any aftermarket one

Im going to go with a K&N drop in filter..the stock intake system is actually a really good set-up.

Personally, I'd rather have it quiet for those 11whp, much rather have a lumpy idle with cams and get 30whp than a loud obnoxious car for 11whp. . .to each his own though!
