RPS Carbon/Carbon, http://www.turboclutch.com/ccarbon.html. Be the first one to test it.

The Mahafee's swear by them (Altered Atmosphere http://www.alteredatmosphere.com/3000gt/3000gt_16.asp) for the VR 4's and they say they save the driveline.

RPS was supposed to have one out this month for the Evo and I'm waiting to hear if anyone has run one yet.

Al, what are your driveline mods? People are crying about busted TC's left and right. Is yours the factory unit or has it been rebuilt or something?

Also, what clutch are you running?

TIA

I called ATS. Yasue (the guy who answered) said the clutch is somewhat stiffer than stock and makes noise. Is it stiffer and does it make noise and how loud and what kind of noise is it?

any double or triple plate clutch makes a little rattle when disengaged. most find that it's not enough to bother them. it's just the price you pay to play.

Is the clutch stiffer than stock, and if so how much? Is there any noise during engagement?

ATS triples don't make that much noise. It does rattle when engaged, it sounds kind of ****y to other people but you can just smile because you know what you have in there

so let me get this straight, your running a GT30 compresor with a GT35 or GT40 turbine?!?!?!?!?.

which ever you will be running some major boost! 40psi why not make it a round 3bar? LOL

not the biggest ive seen but still good. moses in the UK is running (when its finished) a GT3540 (thats a GT35 exhaust with a GT40 compressor) on his 2.3ltr EVO 4!

you should be able to run anti-lag with that no prblems as long as you dont run WRC levels! keep it sensiable and it will be fine in short bursts.

is it stock cc or have put a strocker in there? any chance of revealing some of the mods you have (cams, internals, etc, etc)?

bump the question on your transmition. you not plaing on upgrading your rear diff?

thanks and good luck, Chris.

So far I haebeenrnig a totally stock drivetrain -although recetly I broke two rear half shafts so far the stock bits have been fine

I use the Exedy Hyper Carbon clutch - its stock like smooth engagement and grips rally good when hot - an ideal clutch

My car is 2.0 L for now - I will post up a mod list when have some more time

Small shot of NOS will cure the spool issue

I'm sure you were just typing fast when you wrote, "grips RALLY good," but I like l that. It can be used as a new slang for us Evo goers.

My car doesn't run good... It runs RALLY GOOD!!!! hehe.

I agree with you 100% that it is very important to have a properly sized turbo for your use and application

IMHO - the set up I had before this - with the 3037s with custom sized back housing was the idea - road / track turbo combination with almost no lag and lots of top end power

If you examine this dyno sheet - I think you will find that it is one of the most linear and well balanced smooth dyno sheets out there from a 2.0 l 4 cyl

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/at...chmentid=34720

However - it seemed in light of recent events that many evo owners are NOT impressed with well balanced road cars that drive on the street and have very useable power bands. Rather - the feeling I was getting from my constituants is that ALL that matters is the time slip you get on the drag strip.

It was becoming apparanet - sadly - that supremacy on the drag strip is very important to some evo owners. My goal is to resonate very well with these customers and let them know that a fully streetable - daily driven evo - can go very fast indeed on the drag track.

In drag racing use - my car never goes below 5700 rpms from the start of the pass to the end - so the low rpm spool charatcetristics are not really relevant

As my car's usuable rev range is to 9,500 the 6,000 - 9,000 range is really the key to makeing godo drag racing times

After just coming back from my initial test drive with this new turbo it seems as if it has enough power to go significantly faster in the trap speeds. There is no falling off of boost on top and it will clearly make a LOT of boost

The real issue is IF IT can launch out of the hole as hard as the last turbo - which clearly it will not - and how much trade off there will be in 1st gear and into the 2nd gear shift vs the very enhanced top end gains in 3rd and also 4th which I do not have the ***** to test on the road

The big problem is when you get into the over 500 whp range it all seems so darn fast its very very hard to tell the differnce between lets say 525 and 550 whp - its all just very fast

The main advantage of this turbo for my purposes right now will prob be that it will be easier on the rear half shafts than the other one which hit full boost almost immediately after the car started to move - that kind of shock in 1st gear is very hard on the rear half shafts

Next week will tell a lot when I return to the Pruven Performance Dyno for some testing
