Just Dynoflashed
Just Dynoflashed
Well, i dynoflashed may car 2-3 weeks ago but I was waiting on my walboro so I stayed off boost for 2 weeks (very hard to do)
So I finally installed the pump and was pretty excited about flogging it.
Before I go on to my findings
My car has a turboback, HKS intake and the flash for 93 octane.
I have a halmann but did not istall it cuz I am waiting for my boost gauge to get in.
Well.....
I was somewhat dissapointed. The car did not feel any faster to my butt dyno then before. I am still at stock boost however. But I thought I would feel some extra ooomff from the flash. To be noted It is a bit humid and hot out but really not that much more the before I flashed it
My car on the wideband is running 11.0-11.2 throug out the rev range.
So I am confused here? Is this normal? I know I will feel more power when I add the controller but that will be from increased boost not the flash.
This is in no way trying to knock on Dynoflash. I am just trying to figure out why this is happeningand why I dont feel an increase in power.
Some things I did notice though,
The raised rev limit is sweet
And the car does feel much smoother
my buddy actually went for a ride and told me that my driving got a lot smoother, I told him it was probably the flash....not me

No, there is nothing wrong with your flash. The same was with my car. I had an RMR intake and a gutted stock cat when I had my reflash done. The car didn't seem any faster, but it ran smoother than glass.
I noticed a difference when the weather got cooler one night and I went up against my friends WRX which would sit right next to me on a roll-on before the flash. After the flash on a cool night, I pulled him by a couple cars in the top of 3rd.
I bolted on a 3" RMR catback and went up against a LS1 WS6 6 speed T/A w/ a Borla exhaust and I pulled on him about a half a car each gear from a 20 punch. Off the line, it was not even a race, jumped on hime like 3 cars outta tha hole and he gave up.
I now have a 3" RMR downpipe, 3" UR testpipe, 3" RMR catback, RMR cone filter, Hallman Evo @ 20 PSI, and of course a DynoFlash, flashed only for a intake and gutted OEM cat. One word, OUTTA-CONTROL. It's pretty hard now for me to find a race around here on the streets of Schaumburg. I pull away from LS1 vettes on roll-on and I've been trying to catch a race with a Z06 or 03' Cobra for a while now. My friend just got a 03' Cobra and only has 200 miles on it and I think it has a long way before it's broken in because I pull on him on a roll-on and he should be moppin' me.
People around here don't F' around with EVOs because AMS is out here and their EVO is no longer ground bound... It takes to the air when they open up the throttle. Any muscle head knows that they need spots against a small 2 liter 4cyl EVO.
Go up against another stock EVO and you'll notice that you'll pull on him on the top-end.

give the ecu a few days to settle in. My friends dynoflsh didn't feel any different either the first day when I rode in it. I took a ride 3 days later and it definitely felt faster to me. Did you reset it (ecu) after the fuel pump install?

Catback, cat delete, downpipe, intake and fuel pump.
So are you saying that I will not feel a difference in power that much but will realize it when I race lets say a stock non flashed evo I will realize the difference?
Thanks for the input btw

I've been planning to make my car stricly a road course car, but you have to show up that muscle head when he pulls up in his big, out of date V8... This car has so much potential on and off the track that you can't just limit it to one purpose.
Because you said that you've had it now for about 2 weeks, I'm going to assume that the satisfaction gurantee is past... Just let the flash grow on you for a little bit and you'll soon be happy. I was a little upset at first, but after riding in my friend's EVO with an APEXi SAFC-II instead of DynoFlash, I'd take my setup over his any day!
Al claims 20 HP from the flash. That's not much. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you're getting ripped off, because you're not, just that 20 HP is not a huge increase in power. It's quite possible that your butt meter just doesn't measure it. The only sure fire way to see if you're making more power is to go racing and see if there's any improvement. Or, and this isn't the best way IMHO, if you have before dyno numbers then go back to the same dyno and see what you have now.

Its fun sometimes but why go 1 dimensional when this car is great at everything.
I hope the flash grows on me, its just that I met people at meets and see what everbody has to say on the forums and everybody is always praising how good and unbelievable it is. But I can barely tell

Just the smoothnes alone of the car is worth the $$
I can also see how my butt dyno does not register the added hp. Its difficult to feel that hp especially on a turbo car. On a all motor car different story,
I will see how it feels when it gets cooler since I do not ever drag it at the strip so I have nothing to compare it too

Very often we hav customers tell us that the car does not "feel" any faster - becuase what is happened is that the power band has smoothed out to the point that its a very linear power band
The stock power band can "feel" very power ful the way it comes onto the 'cam' and then falls off so quickly - but we all know that is not a fast or good power band
While we do claim and deliver a 20 whp PEAK gain - - with our through the mail flashes - very often we actcually see 30 - 40 ft lbs on icrease trq down low and over 40 whp at 7,000 and above
The main point is that the power gains we claim are made with very conservative a/f targets like the ones you are reporting an with very conservative ignition timing
Also - the factory knock protection features are in full force and effect to protect your engine and increse its lifespan

Th main thing I am looking for is a smooth linear powr band that keeps pulling all the way to red line and broadens the useful power band
