Is my car slower?

Okay...I just got your flash about two weeks ago. Be fore your flash, I had just a HKS RS intake, HKS downpipe, and HKS cat back and my best time was a 8.6 @ 82 mph with a 1.8 60 ft.

Well....I ran my car tonight for the first time after your flash, fuel pump, and MBC install and I ran the same exact time, but only at 80 mph. I'm confused.

When I race my buddies stock Evo from a 3rd gear roll we are almost even til 4th gear and then I pull away pretty fast, but it seems like I didn't pick anything up down low.

Is there something I'm not understanding about where my power gains were? I was thinking I would at least trap about 84 mph or a bit higher tonight, but the three times I ran, I ran consistant 8.6's at 80 mph.

Is my car only faster at higher speeds? I'm guessing the flash made it a better 1/4 mile car than a 1/8 mile car?

I had people asking me what my a/f ratio and timing was, but I'm not sure what they were. They were telling me that it seemed as if you riched it up.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the flash, I'm just needing to know why (if you can tell me) my car is running the same times, but slower.

BTW....I'll be calling you about the custom tune at AMS on the 7th.

did u use race gas at the track?

do u have a SAFC ?

do you change and parts or add any parts to your evo?

what boost u running?

Or it just might be a bad tank of gas.......i had some major problems tuning cause of bad gas so i had to drive out all the gas and put some fresh gas......problem solved

When I was running 82-83 mph I only had the intake, downpipe, and cat back. I added a perrin cat delete, walbro 255, MBC set at 20.5 psi when I got my ECU flashed. That is what Al told me to set it at.

I don't like race gas and will never run race gas. What my car runs at the track is what you get on the street. That is the way I like it. I don't have a AFC because I didn't want a piggyback. That is why I got my ECU flashed.

then you probably got a tank of bad gas....or plugs are fouled.....

the other variable can be driving habits.....

Or maybe prior to his tune he was running very very lean?

no........ that can't be it. why should people try to think about something like that when they can just post crap and start trouble instead?

Yeah....I'm sure Boost Solutions would really love you coming in here and talking all kinds of **** about other tuners. That's not cool.

As for my driving? I was consistant with 8.6's at 80 mph with 1.8 60 fts. all three runs. I know how to drive my car. It has nothing to do with my driving..

As for running lean? Yes, Al said my car was probably running lean with the RS intake on it. I dynoed my car at 233 hp and 236 trq. on Horse Power House's AWD Mustang Dyno about a month before I ran my car at the track and trapping 82-83 mph with just those three bolt ons and they told me my A/F was fine. I have my dyno sheet, but it doesn't give A/F on it.

What would the car be doing if the plugs are fouled? The car seems to run really strong and smooth so I don't see that being the problem.

8.6 @ 82 was pretty good with just those modifications.

When you ran 8.6 @ 82, what was your weight, temperature and humidity compared to your post flash run.

How was your 60' time on the new run compared to your before flash run?

I trap about 2-3mph slower now compared to my October time here in Florida with near identical 60' time. I attribute that to the hotter air.

If everything else being equal and the only difference is your flash ... you should run a faster time and higher trap speed.

Well I ran 82-83 mph back in May and lastnight was the first time I got to run it again. I thought about the temperture, but I wasn't sure if that could be it or not. Lastnight's temp was low to mid 80's when I ran.

When I ran in May, I was getting 8.6's with 2.0's and 1.9's 60 fts. because I hadn't ran my car with my Volks on it and it took a bit getting used to as to when I ran my car the first time I was on my stock wheels and some close to black Advans. And when I was running then I was trapping 79 mph with just a cat back.

I ran an 8.28 @ 82 with pretty much the same mods as you with the exception of the intake. I am running a DynoFlash as well. My powerband falls off a lot after 6000 rpm, so I think that contributes to the low 1/8 mph. The same might be happening to you.
