My Experience after getting custom tuned

Mods are as follows: BR MBC@~20psi, RnR custom CAI, Tanabe 2.75in Downpipe, 3in Catco highflow Cat, 3in RNR catback with magnflow muffler. 91 octane only

Al custom tuned the car in Huntington Beach, CA around 11pm. AF ratio was a solid 11.00. The power delivery is strong and the low end smoothness and power are great. Drivability is nice and smooth no matter what throttle position or RPM are. If I floor it in 4th gear at 2000 RPM I reach full boost by 2800 RPM. Torque hits hard and pulls strong till about 6500. Boost begins to fall after that and power seems to level off.

I noticed I am still getting a light dusting of black soot on my rear bumper and ther are larger black particles on the bumper around the exhuast tip as well. Is this normal, am I still running too rich?

Rich is good, but depending upon whom you ask, 11.0 may be a bit too rich.

Al tunes very safely, just clean your car more often and as long as you're not going rich enough to foul plugs often, leave it be.

what do fouled plugs look like, aren't they very black? Does every 10k miles sound right for plug changes. Ill probably run the NGK copper plugs heat range 7, does this sound like the right way to go? Thxn for the input 4G63

How much torque should I use when installing the new plugs?

I use the NGK coppers now - BPR7ES. I plan on playing it safe and changing them when I do the oil change,
about every 3k.

Torque - my manual say 18 +/- 3 ft/lbs. Got to protect the alumium head

Thnx mikesevo8

I think Ill go with 10k change intervals as every 3k seems a but paranoid to me.

Yeah, 10K should be fine or once you start feeling misfires.

Good to hear that your car is running good. I would rather be on the rich side for a little extra insurance. Al did a Base Flash for 91 octane on my car that same morning and I am very happy with results. I went down to the drag strip right after and improved about a tenth in the quarter and gained over 1 MPH.

We prefer the Motec wideband over the black soot on the tail pipe test !
