Question why is dynoflash more $$ for 04s than for 03s?

in the 'how to order' in the dynoflash website, it says:

Price for the Fed Ex flash for 2003 Evos is $199.99 and for 2004 Evos its $249.99 plus $25.00 for Fed Ex Standard OR $32.00 for Fed Ex Priority

why is dynoflash more expensive for 2004 evos? has the ECU changed?

also, i'm thinking about getting cam gears. is there a dynoflash for cam gears?
anyone running this setup - turbo back (hf cat) + cam gears + dynoflash?
what kind of gains can i expect from the cam gears?
thanks,

joe

the 04 ECU code is different. cam gears really do nothing for you. all they will be eye candy becasue more than likely your tuner will set them to stock because that is the best place.

There's likely a bit more R&D involved with the '04s, hence the slight bump in price. It's still an awesome deal, any way you look at it.

As for the cam gears, you can get some nice top end gains with stock cams by playing with them, but you should have an idea what you're doing before trying it. Perhaps get in touch with someone that's had success with a certain setting before you go testing piston to valve clearances.

The gears DO make a difference, but it's all in the tuner's hands.

Is fedex standard just fedex ground? I've shipped fedex ground before and to ship something the size/weight of an Evo ECU would only cost about $6.

Are the custom tunes on the dyno the same price?

I think the dynoflash is more expensive for the 04 than the 03 is because they are newer than the 03's. An 04 model is obviously more expensive, unless it is used and mileage comes into play.

A few points

The 2004 ecu flash is $249 for a through the mail flash and $500 (same as 2003) for a full custom tune. Custom re-tunes remain $350 (same as 2003).

I charge more for the through the mail flashes for several reasons. 1 - I had to buy two 2004 ecus at a cost of over $1200 to get the 2004 base program. 2 - I had to offer a few free tunes and dyno sessions to develop the 2004 tunes. 3 - When ever I get in a 2004 through the mail flash, I have to convert the appropriate 2003 program base calibration into a 2004 file which takes me about 1/2 hour.

I hope this clarifes why I charge a bit more for the 2004. As a side note - the 2004 evo sales have been so weak and the reflashing sales so small I did not even recover my investment on the 2004 reflash and dyno time yet.

As for shipping fees - all shipping is overnight - standard is delivery in the afternoon - priority is in the am

Because Mitsu had a short sell for the 2004 Evo's, so less were brought here to sell. Less available for sale equals less purchased...

Hopefully for Al, programming for the 2005's are the same as 2004.
