DSM Shootout !

Guys - if you did not attend - you missed the best weekend ever

First it began with a day hangin at Buschur's shop and tuning Evos and wound up with Dave Buschur in my passenger seat tuning my Evo at speeds that made me physically ill down some back, back, back farm roads

The meet at Buschur's shop on Saturday attracted well over 300 people and we had evos from all over the east coast there

Dave Buschur was tuning evos all day with the AEM and the famous Jason Siebles from AEM was on hand lending tech support

Jason Seibles is a real smart guy and I learned a lot just watching Jason and Dave working on several evos

The action on the "strip" Saturday night was unbelieveable - simply can not express the scene there - you have to experience it sometime

The RACE

Met up with the Buschur shop car in the 1st round - lucky for me Dave's brother Dan bogged even worse than I did so I got the win

Saw Jason Seibles in the pits who told me I was going to get beat by the AMS car bad. I told him to put his money where his mouth was and we had a AMS guy hold $12

I got a by run in the 2nd round and moved on to face the 2nd AMS 600 whp car in the 3rd round

It was without a DOUBT the BEST RACE of my life. The margin of victory was .007 - thats close !

Basically they had me off the line due to my clutch line issues (I had re-installed a new clutch the day before I left for the race and apparently I cracked the clutch line which was leaking slightly) With Dave Buschur's help I was bleeding the clutch line between rounds to get the air out.

Anyway - I had turned up my tune and boost and was making some serious power and basically drove around the AMS car which was 2/10ths in the lead at the 330' mark

It was a really amazing race and a moment I will never forget

Major props to AMS crew and Martin for putting on a real good and professional show at the shootout

I will be checking out that AMS turbo myself in the near future - HKS sucks and their additude sucks - I need to take that junk OFF my car

On to the final round

I was facing the world famous Kurt Brown who had broken Buchur's previous stock turbo world record of 11.65 in the 1/4 with a blistering 11.50 on a stock turbo and stock clutch !!!!!!!!

My car could have easily beat him - however - my clutch line was leaking very bad and as I was sitting at the line the fluid was leaking and the clutch started comming out pushing me through the beams and drawing the red light. Thats racing - a great victory to Kurt Brown who is a super nice guy and I am sure I will be racing him again soon !!!!! (hopefully Sept 11)

It was my 2nd DSM shootout and my 2nd time as runner up in the Evo class with a faster car but loosing at the line !

This year there were a lot of great people there and it was a really amazing epxerience

Special thanks to Dave Buschur for hosting such a great event and for tuning my car and also providing me a place to do the Dyno Flashes at his shop all weekend. Dave is a great guy and its an honor to have "Buschur Racing" proudly displayed on my race car.

I was super happy to get into the 10's with street radials - a/c and the full interior in - even the back seat) - to me that was a huge goal and something I have worked hard to do.

Hope to see you all September 11 in Englishtown !
