Evo on E85
Cool, nice write up. I wonder if the burn speed of E85 was taken into consideration with the timing. What's conservative for gasoline might be aggressive for E85 if it burns faster, but I haven't seen any good info on it, just a few posts here and there without any real numbers
Just read that entire article. Lengthly, but very informative. Interesting how the ethanol did nothing noticeable after 4 months of submersion in the E85 formula. I've never ran racing gas through my car. Probably won't either seeing as how I'm selling it very soon.

Those power/torque curves are well, just that: curves. Anyone else notice this? Surely you could smooth those out. I am guessing that was just a rough tune in order to see the results of E85 vs its supposed 100 octane counterpart?

Hey All, If you want to talk w/ an expert on E85 check out www.englishracing.net Lucas was one of the first to tune up here in the NW (Washington) on E85. Hope this helps.
Its great if you want to run more boost. Get a walbro, 1000cc injectors and a tune. Datalog the car around the seasonal blend changes. Going from winter to spring to summer youll be able to add some timing and boost and need to add some fuel. Going from summer to fall to winter youll remove some fuel, and might need to run less timing/boost. You could probably get a reasonable middle of the road tune that is richer in the winter and doesnt go nuts on the timing and be ok all year round.
Considering Buschur tuned a car that normally (i think) made 435whp on their dyno, and added E85 to tank and retuned which required about 35% more fuel to get stoichiometric ratios right, but the damn thing made 535whp!
Good info there on that link. What is funny, is that here where I live we have probably 15 local cars that run E-85 full time. The reason that is funny is because it is not available here in pump form. All of us go across the border to get it.
As far as how it compares to other types of gas, I would say it is better than 110, one shop here in particular (Abel Racing) has been tuning cars on it for awhile now.
The main thing you need to consider with E-85 is the amount it takes to use it. For me, i am around 620whp and I am using 1600cc injectors, and 2 in tank walbro 255 pumps. Duty Cycle is around 80~% so I have some room left.
