xylene

well im interested in running this in my car mixed with 93 i searched and found this https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ghlight=xylene that explained that it could be used safely till 30%, if i run 100octane using the calculations of that thread how much extra boost could i safely run on the IX stock turbo with tbe and a kn drop in? also how much horsepower extra will i be looking at? Im now at 312 whp @23psi, im looking for some cams and maybe porting the header and O2 housing but the meanwhile i want some more power.

thanks in advance
Carlos

Well I hope you can understand this it's just a little bit of math. If you want to run 25psi of boost with a Evo 9 this is the octane you would need 115.90 at an engine volumetric efficiency of 75%. The compression ratio under boost would be 16.80:1. As for making more horsepower it would be minimal at best without tuning AFR and timing. I have run strait Toluene in my car at 30psi with a lot of timing and AFR's in the high 9' to low 10's. I have a full aftermarket fuel system though, I wanted to be able to run E85 and Methanol. My advise would be to have someone tune it with more timing and spot on AFR's run lower boost you will have horsepower that you can see on a dyno 21 to23psi.

xylene is about the same as toluene. they are both benzene rings with extra methel groups. They are very toxic, but do increase octane.
What is the benefit to using this over race gas, probably not much.
Why use this over ethanol? Its cheaper and WAY less toxic.
And if you really need better gas, just buck up and get race gas. there is no proint to running this with a bolt on car.
