BR8es's gapped to .018 they only seem to last ~1500 miles before I start blowing out the spark on my FP Red at 33 psi. I'm still on stock ignition and am guessing that's part of my issue. Hopefully pick up a sparktech non-cdi setup soon and see if that solves some problems.

I switched from the NGKBR8ES to the NGK Iridium BR9s when I installed my Red and I've noticed a HUGE difference. No break ups, hiccups or anything with the stock ignition. I gapped them to .22 running between 30-33 lbs of boost.

How many miles? I think the Iridium's are about 3Xs the cost? So, they should last more than 3Xs as long as the BR8ES to be worth the up-charge. Or am I just getting way to analytical?

Why do most EVO heads suggest converting from the Iridiums to the coppers in the first place?

For me, it was simply suggested by the local tuner shop, so I've had coppers in the car since I bought it. I don't actually remember why???

I regapped them to .22 so I've driven a little over a hundred or so miles without any spark related issues. But it is clean now! I am truly impressed. As far as the EVO heads go, I can't remember either. I kept running the 8s because they help but they only last about an oil change at a time. So I figured I would try these, esp. since "Project White" picked up like 13 whp from just dropping them in??? Seemed like they were worth 30 bucks! I hope the friggin' things last more than 3k miles too.

I don't know about 13 whp, but the infamous ol' butt dyno knows something is working right now!

That's my point. Until you run the Iridiums 12,000 miles, its hard to say if they are a good bet or not as far as price point comparison.

If there is 13 whp in just using the Iridium plugs, that would be a pretty good value, IMHO. Did David mention this in the Project White thread or elsewhere? I don't recall that item.

I think I see Iridium plugs in my future.

copper plugs actually conduct A LOT better than irridiums but in turn foul A LOT faster hense the 3k change interval. i ran BPR7ES on both pump and E85 gapped at .24-.26" with no problems. the stock ignition may or maynot be able to handle the boost some of you are running. i've seen spark blowout at 22psi and my buddy runs BPR7ES to 32psi no probs. just depends on the car i guess.

oh and E85 burns a hell of a lot cleaner than pump gas thats why your plugs don't look haggered. your oil will look brand new too, at least mine did.

irridium plugs work very well for someone that doesn't want to change them out every 3k. as far as more power... i doubt it.

Those are the ones I'm running with Okada's and they have performed flawlessly. got over 6k on them with no issues. I will report at summers end to how they hold up. Mind you, this is with multiple autox and track days- strictly E85. I have no doubt that they will hold up to the rest of the season. This is running 28+ psi by the by.

I don't think I've ever seen those. Doesn't surprise me though, there's a lot of plugs out there.

Here's the quote from the "Project White" thread by David Buschur post#154:

It made the most power it has to date, 513 whp and the curve is improved greatly from the last dyno sheet, no more wobbles and wiggles in the upper mid range.

Also had an issue today blowing the spark out on the car. I went to find a coil on plug ignition and found out we were out of stock..............I decided to just try a fresh set of plugs and found we had an entire stack of BR9 iridiums on the shelf. I always use and recommend the normal copper plugs but figured what the hell, they were there and we were not selling them anyway. Well it was the right choice. The car pulled absolutely the cleanest it has right after changing the plugs out. No more misfire, very pleased.

It's previous best was 501 as stated a few posts before this one, dyno sheets are included in the thread. Now if they last, the 9 Iridiums will be perfect for us E-85 users.
