E85 vs. Q16 - discuss
E85 vs. Q16 - discuss
Wat are the pros and cons between the 2..
I know the price difference, i know Q16 eats o2 sensors...
i need imperical evidence on what makes the most power and engine longevity...
obviously im not gonna be DD on Q16
thank you

1. E85 makes more power than Q16.
2. E85 costs less.
I don't see there is much to discuss.

I'm sure the quality control of the fuel will be more strict and consistent at VP versus a gas station selling E85...
If you want E85 that was produced with more consistent batches, then you get Rocket Brand E85 race fuel: http://www.rockettbrand.com/techsupp...ationSheet.pdf
Or you can get yourself a Zeitronix Ethanol Content Analyzer:

I would like to see un biased opinions on this not guys who swear by e-85. Gallon for gallon e-85 is cheaper but your using e-85 way more than q-16 if your the average DD with occasional track time. Like the OP asked, evidence is requested with dyno sheets, time slips, etc.
I didn't say anything about gas mileage. I was talking about consumption here. DD'ing on e-85 vs only using q-16 for the track and that's maybe 5 gallons tops.
I think the OP is trying to stay away from opinions and wanting something more along the lines of facts and figures and experience with both fuels on the same setup.

im looking more for pros AND cons BETWEEN running both setups... just 1 guy says he made more power on e85... but how about runnin ur car daily at the drag strip lets say, how long beore something bad happens runnin strictly E85 or strictly Q16... how long will the motor hold up? im talking more on the lines of a fully built motor that can handle just about anything... if its a given that E85 for surely makes more power, how come all the guys going for whp record or 1/4 mile record arent automatically goin with an E85 setup? theres more to this equation than just saying E85 is a definate maximum setup
i ran e85 my first time having the car at the track. i ran a 10.8 **** is awesome. my tuner says we still need to get on q16 because we will make more power and go faster. i know some are saying that isnt true but hell thats all this kid does is tune tune tune i think he knows what he is talking about. i guess we will just wait and see what happens.
what about e-98???????

I have some good Q16 results and I'd love to run some e-85, Kevin and I picked up 50 gallons of it yesterday for his car but my fuel system wouldn't be able to keep up. I'm seriously thinking bout making it more robust so I can run e85. 10.00 per gallon vs 1.91 makes it very tempting.
A lot of people see that and automatically choose e85. But how about the DDer with very little track time say once a month he goes to the track or perhaps gets called out and needs to run the Jesus Juice?
Let's say 2 people order 100 gallons of e85 and q16. Sure the price is a HUGE difference but the DDer on e85 is gonna run through that a lot faster than someone who just wants to make a few passes. In one night I made 6 passes plus driving to the track and back on q16 and only used 3 gallons of it.
If you run the track maybe twice a month that's only 72 gallons used in that year.

There are not E-85 pumps over here in MS yet. So there would be no way for me to fill up. That's another reason I'm iffy about making the switch. And don't even think about saying I should stock up lol.
well,i have a few empty VP 55 gallon drums im gonna use,but ill have to make a trip to Alabama every few months to stock up
good thing i have a DD,i just cant keep buy these drums of race gas man,im poor
