Emmissions and E-85

Haven't really searched around but wanted to get some advice to see if I should re-tune my evo 8 to basic 91 pump. My mods on the car are basic listed in my sig, and my emmissions are coming up in 2 months from now.

I do not have a cat, will I need to re-tune the car if I put a stock cat on?

And if I use E-85 to my emissions testing, is it more likely to fail?

Please help me with this situation to get me going in the right direction, thanks!

I passed with E85 and all I did was put my cat back on.

I never told him I was using E85.

youll pass easier on e85. and you dont need a cat.

you shouldnt need to switch back to 91 to pass. and if you dont pass, whoever tuned it should be able to make it pass pretty much no matter what.

In Californai he will more than likely need the cat as Cali has very strict emmisions. If anything it helps pass the visual

I failed on pump 91, flipped my switch filled up with E85 and passed with flying colors. You should pass much easier with E85.

Your only challenge on E85 could be NOX. If your AFR, engine condition, and timing are correct then E85 should breeze through.

NOX on my car was less than half what what the car had when it passed on 91. I have had people tell me that the emissions from E85 are much more than that of standard fuel... I suspect misinformation along with running it cars not designed or modified for it.

I would agree with that- the NOX is the one that is often the least gain on but as you saw- with the right tune it also can be way down.

make sure your obd system reads ready on all sensor, no cel on and have a cat on...u should pass without any problems. you should be able to connect any obd scanner that read readines codes and see if ur system reads ready....

What if I have to put my cat on?

Im tuned as is with my TBE.

If I put my cat on, wont it interfere with my tune?

Im trying to get this done as quick and cheap as possibly haha.
