E85 and low compression pistons?

My friend wants to go E85 on his 8:1 built 2.4l. I told him most people go 10:1 or higher with E85, now with such low compression would it be better for him to run race gas q16 or c16? Or E85?

never heard this before. Lower compression just means hes gonna need to run more boost to make the same power someone else does with more compression... He will see the same results as everyone else from pump to racegas.

E85 is still cheaper, I would do it over racegas despite compression. He has already done the build or is planning it? We have made almost as much power on an 7.8:1 motor (1G DSM) as we do on most 8.8:1 (stock Evo) and its more pumpgas tolerant. I wouldnt worry about it so much being low, just turn the boost up more

x2 on what JB said.

i have a 2.4 (different car but still matches the topic), and i dropped compression down to 7.2:1 + combustion chamber work...so its probably around 7.0:1. yea yea, call it stupid or w/e...car's original intentions was to be a beast on high boost w/ 91octane and meth.

converted to e85 and water inj eventually tho.
nonetheless, the car runs great w/ low compression on e85. yea im sure 10:1 is awesome, but i cant complain w/ my low compression setup. I like how the low comp. gives me that generous 'cushion' for the "what-if's" and moments where things dont go right. i dont have shop support or backing so if i have a mistake tuning my car, i need the breathing room margin for error.

i make great power on a 6262.

my boost build up is only 100rpms slower than another person's 2.4 srt that i know that has the same turbo as me, but w/ 9:1...both just average joes tuning their cars..

low compression is great. high compression is way better, but sometimes doesnt fit everyone's needs for their given setup.
just my 2c
