Switched to E85 and only Made an Extra 16WHP

So I have an evo 8 with a tomei m7960 turbo, Tomei cams, tomei valve springs, tomei cam gears, full exhaust , walbro 255, 1200cc injectors on E85. I just made the switch at AWD Motorsports and Dereck tuned my car. He stated he does not know why it's not making power but he thinks the turbo is bad or engine is losing compression, I ran a compression test and got 165, 165, 165 and 160 on 4th cylinder. We did a boost leak test and I have no leaks. He said that when he raised the boost its just not netting him HP. I am making in pump 340whp and he said with this setup on E85 he was making 475whp. I don't know the condition of the turbo but its probably been in there for about 2-3 years. It does not have shaft play. Has this turbo reached its end?

Tuning, you need much more aggressive timing. E85 is basically 105 octane with additional cooling properties. Post your before and after Dyno numbers.

Post a picture of an e85 dyno. Will tell a lot, things like valve float are easy to spot. Even running the same boost level you should pick up a ton of power due to being able to run much more timing.

Here you Go, I don't get how a turbo can Go "bad", the blades are good and not chipped or cracked. Is there any gaskets or something the air might be slipping through?

27 psi?... on e85? that's pretty weak. stock 9 turbos can get away with 30 psi on e85. i'm not familiar with that turbo though so it may be tiny

Googled your turbo and found this info

The M7960 will be along the same lines as a mid to high 40lb/min turbo, where the M8265 will be in the low to mid 50lb/min turbo.

If that data is correct you have a week turbo that just can't flow enough air I'm guessing your turbo is starting to blow hot air.
Also like said above on e85 you should be able to run more agressive timing.

Personally I would ditch that turbo and find an fp, EF, or BBK Series turbo

I think you can make more assuming the turbo is in good condition.

It's hard to tell from the dyno chart, but it looks lean all the way across. Can you log it and post up a log?

I have a hard time believing its the tune, as AWD is a pretty reputable company. I would start with a boost leak test and go from there....although a 40lbs/min Turbo isn't that big....

What did you want it to make??

We did a boost leak test and not a single leak, Dereck at AWD had my same setup and same turbo and just on Pump he was making 400whp, and on E85 475whp. I would like to get it up to 459whp. He said he adjusted the timing very aggressively but the dyno numbers just did not add up. My baseline was 340who on 24psi on pump. Then 356whp on E85 at 27.5 Psi.

Something is definitely holding it back. Do you have a cat by chance? If so maybe its clogged or its just very restrictive?

We know that turbo is pretty small however that is irrelevant bc it flows more than an IX turbo and the IX turbo on corn is good for over 400.

Can you give us a breakdown of your full mods list? Even the 340 on pump is really low IMO. Something isnt quite right here...

A stock turbo on e85 more or less can be open boosted. Spike it to 35 it'll drop to about 20 at the end of the rev range but serious HP comes from a larger turbo.

what does your torque look like? are you making more tq then hp?
