I won't be buying Chinese widebands but I get your point

Probably not a very large market anyway.

Damn do I love this thread. I now know what my summer project is. I live in SoCal, so it should be a little different for me. I also need to find a good hookup on sugar.

I'm not 100% sure but the permit I believe is the same across the country, make sure you get one....jail time otherwise.

Yep, I will be sure to have the permit. I dont need the ATF knocking down my door. I alredy have to deal with CHP, CARB, and EPA.

Also for anyone else that might want to do it, here is a link to the permit form:

I was going to try and find that link, thanks for posting it.

If you or anyone else starts, I'd be glad to share the knowledge I've gained. Just ask in this thread.

Tonight I tilled up about 2 acres of my property. It's wet as hell here but I had to get the sod broken and turned over, what a chore. I mowed this field I'm going to use a few weeks ago, we've had so much rain it's out of control. My son mowed it twice tonight as short as he could get it. He was on one tractor mowing/chopping and I was on the other tilling it. Hopefully we get some dry weather so I can get it worked up better then it is getting planted in corn.

There are suppose to be some new cold enzymes for converting the corn, I'm going to look into them and try that next.

I ran some more ethanol today, cleaned up the barn etc., super nice day here for December, about 50 degrees.

I have been considering building a new boiler and still. Today I finally took the time to take some measurement and draw up what I want to do. This leaves me with current operation and the need to sell it.

If anyone is interested I am going to sell this complete boiler and still. I am going to sell it all cheap so I can start on the new operation.

Two ways to buy it, the boiler and the still complete and ready to run minus the cooling tank/radiator/12v pump, $2,000.

If you want the complete operation like it is on Youtube, with the aluminum cooling tank, radiator, fan, 12v pump etc., $2500.

It is possible for me to ship this via truck freight but I'd rather sell it to someone who can come and get it.

I can take payment through the shop if anyone is interested with paying with a credit card.

Not sure how many of you are on Facebook but it's turned into a great advertising media for us. I recently started a new page for Moonshine-ethanol there and am posting pictures of a new boiler/pot I am building. It's a work of art!

Here is a link to the page for anyone interested:

I hope to weld it up this weekend. I can not wait to fire it for the first time. The efficiency of this should go through the roof compared to the old unit. I am also having a new 4" column built that will mount on top of the new boiler. Anyway, stop by and check it out.

More progress on my ethanol production. I'm building a completely new unit now and this is what I've got done so far:

The new boiler/burner is going to be quite a bit more efficient. The heat time to get it up to temperature and the input needed to keep it hot will be greatly reduced. The entire design is all from experimenting and what I have come up with.

The entire unit is 304 stainless. The new reflux column will mount directly to the top 4" Vband, this also improves efficiency as there is nothing lost in the bubbler section anymore.

I should be firing it up this weekend.

I just got a half chub. Very cool stuff here Dave. How much does it cost roughly for seeding, and harvesting of the corn?

Depends on the soil for the corn. If you have some decent "virgin" ground then you can just till it, plant it, cultivate it and harvest it. Realistically it can be done very cheap, I planted an acre this year for about the cost of 10 gallons of diesel and $60 in seed.

I know you are just doing this on the side but it would be cool to see a Buschur brand E85 station around the US. Cool project you got there. Not something I would attempt myself though. Keep up the good work as usual

Haha, man I'd need a lot more of these tanks to start a gas station! It's a hell of a fun project for me. I really enjoy figuring it out and of course, LOVE the building of it all.

My new column shipped today, I bought it from Mile hi distilling again. I could have built it and will probably attempt the next one but reality is they build a very nice product and the pricing was good enough to just buy another tower from them. The new tower is 4" compared to my current 3" and should be more efficient.

I'm stoked to run it this weekend, I can tell you that!
