tuning a stock evo to e85?

How do I convert my stock evo8 to run e85 and what are the benefits? I see evos for sale that run e85 all the time I dont get it. I work on bikes and ethanol is TERRIBLE for small motors how is it good for evos???

To answer your question a bit more thoroughly it all depends what you think is "bad." E85 has its pros and cons. The pros are cheaper by the gal, it does clean your motor internally, cleaner burning fuel, similar burning tendencies of a approximately 105 oct, thus allowing for more powa. The cons on the other hand, you burn alot more of it thus ending in worse fuel mileage, I personally have seen caustic nature of this fuel in the stock fuel lines where my lines were eaten alive thankfully I upgraded, and of course the availabilty may be an issue depending where you reside.

Now IMHO the pros outweigh the cons if done properly but to switch is easy. Since you have a ct9a the bare minimum to switch would be:

1000cc injectors
upgraded fuel pump
and a tune(flash the stock ecu)

Of course there are many other mods that will help in the making of more hp but of course to each their own on that. I would recommend the basic bolt ons such as your plumbing of course, cams, some sort of boost controller (some recommend the gm3port others a mbc or ebc), wb02, and a ECA as well would compliment the switch nicely.

Either way goodluck to you.

60F?

That is a tuning issue. People can start E85 below freezing.

Check out the Starting IPW table.

Well, I just ordered a buschur bullet, stm intake, hks bov. In the spring Im going to get the o2 housing, 3" downpipe and im concidering going with some 272 cams and a buschur intercooler. Then I would do walboro 255 pump and rc 1000cc injectors and finally a tune. Does this setup sound right? Getting E85 isnt a problem two gas stations within 5 minutes of my house have it, but I do live in upstate NY so if I have problems starting at freezing temps that would really suck

By ethanol being bad I mean clogged injectors and lines. Ethanol turns into jello in a short amount of time I see jeliton in carb bowls and injectors constantly

I'm not aware of any problems like this with any EVOs running on E85.

The guy can't even spell gelatin correctly. I wouldn't worry about those claims
