E85 prices rising in my area, what about yours?
Just paid $3.04/gal today here is Tucson.
ATTN: iPhone users. There is a nice app for E85 station locating called "Flex-Fuel". Unfortunately, the excellent "GasBuddy" app is terrific for finding the lowest priced petrol, but it does not track E85.

When I filled up this afternoon, I spoke to the gas station attendant, and he said the station makes no money on their E85 sales. He said they are keeping it around though because its cheaper than regular, and it attracts people into the station who don't realize its the E85 price. He also said that if the subsidy goes away, their price for E85 will go up accordingly. Makes me wonder if they will continue to sell it if the sale price surpasses regular gasoline. The US Govt really needs to get their head screwed on straight about whether E85 is a real strategy for oil independence.
$2.99 at one of the stations close by. Corn is such a inefficient product for making ethanol.
Lots of better stuff out there that most people don't really realize would make more for cheaper.

Cheaper yes, but our infrastructure isn't able to handle using anything in mass quantities but predominately corn which made it the easy/simple/quick choice. Oh, BTW, most of you don't know this but domestic ethanol producers grind more than just corn. One of our ethanol plants doesn't use any corn at all.

I don't mean that in a bad way, just that most people (even users) do not take the time to educate themselves about the product, and just say what they have been told.
