Further questions on EcuFlash w/ EcuTek

Hey everyone.

I have read all I can find here and at openecu.org on options for EcuTek'ed ECUs. My car is an '03, and I don't care what happens to my EcuTek license because 1) I did not pay for it, and 2) I'll never have someone tune it with that software.

So. It's not clear from my reading if the EcuFlash will allow me to restore the factory flash to my ECU.

How can this best be handled?

Thanks!
Ethan

P.S. If I feel like it, I will probably do a manual baseline with my UTEC just to capture some of what EcuTek is doing...though I already know 90% of what was changed.

you may be sol for the time being unless you pay a ecutek dealer to have your imobilizer code read out and buy another ecu and install the imobilizer code in it. ecutek claims they will be releasing a way to flash the units back to stock, I dont think it is out yet. they ruffled alot of peoples feathers by locking the ecus without warning

FYI - i believe they plan on releasing a $600 tool to reflash back to stock. Some vendors do have the ability to read out your immobilizer code - and flash the ECU to stock on the bench. but until then - the ECU is locked.

I'm so glad I waited before jumping on an EcuTek Tune. These kind of tactics as well as DRM are against my religion.

My car was previously tuned by and EcuTek tune, and now i want to do Email flashes like everyone else... Is there and solution?

All i know is i tried to read my ECU via ECUFlash & Tantrix cable, and i got error messages, and it definatly won't read...

I know i read MalibuJack a while back when he was saying how it's simple to change the code and open it up again, or something.

BTW...in the interest of keeping certain information safe in our community, we should not discuss this topic here. I have contacted KOEvo via pm for this reason.

PM me if you guys need help.

I'm pretty sure I know how to do it, but I would need to look at a copy of your ROM.

Either way - let me know how it turns out.

Its actually no big deal, You need to use the ECU Unlocker along with ECUFlash to read the Rom that is currently locked, once you have a copy of your rom you need to alter your Init code from whatever it is, to 0001, then you need to write that rom back to your ECU (again you'll have to use the ECU Unlocker one more time) Once that is done, you should no longer need to use the unlocker.

Keep in mind this may or may not damage your ECUTek license, and of course it will void your license if you remove the lock or alter the rom.

I've been doing it for some time...It's just that I thought there were some legal threats.

The ECU unlocker won't work on my ecutek'd Evo 9. Evoflash (1.29) refuses to read the ecu even though the CE light comes on and EvoScan works fine. I really would appreciate it if someone could help me out getting the ecutek off the car so I can ecuflash my car.
