Would any one of the tuners in this thread feel comfortable with building a SAFE 2.4L 50 trim base flash to use for a break in period?? Low boost, etc, just need something scaled for 880cc injectors and more air flow.

I've PM'd, called, and e-mailed about 25 times to different vendors and the only 1 response I received did not answer any of my questions. Quite frustrating.

Al, what would you think about breaking in the new motor/setup on the old flash I'm running? It's your "mail-in" for an 05 VIII with Intake/TBE/MBC/FP.

I think you should come in for an in person flash which I will donate to you - you have had enough problems - IMHO

I picked him for a couple reasons.
1. It is hard to find anybody, even on this god forsaken forum full of whiney kids, that had bad things to say about his customer service or tunes. That is incredible.

2. He actually has posted a friggin price!! When someone says "PM for details", my brain just says "I am about to get screwed".

3. From what people were saying, the wait time was minimal.

I checked out http://www.jestrtuning.com/ and it clearly said "If you are using OpenECU, the Mode 1 (M1) flash is what you need." I love it when a person keeps it simple for a retard like me.

The only part I was not clear about was which email address to send the paypal to, so I hit up jestr on the AIM. He was busy on the dyno, but took a few minutes to get me straightened out.

I sent my money and image on Saturday evening, and clearly stated in the email "I am not in a hurry, take your time." I had my flash at 8am this morning, with an apology for the delay. Delay??? WTF ....there are people who have been waiting months from other vendors! If this guy feels the need to apologize for a 36 hour turnaround time, even after I told him not to hurry, that is dedication to serving your customers!

My car only has a few simple mods. The car feels good now. Mid-range torque feels great. My butt dyno is the worst and I refuse to submit to placebo effect... there is no doubt that I can feel a difference in my car.

I wanted a nicely done flash that I could study and compare to my stock maps, and that is exactly what I got. The maps look good to my untrained eye, smooth transitions and no huge blocks of duplicated values

Thanks to jestr for a great product at a great price!
For Jestr. He did mines in 2.5 hrs. I sent payment and OE image at 5am and he got it back to me by 7:30am. Best 50 bucks I ever spent!

I love reading all these Jestr success stories. The guy is amazing, yet people still dont get it.

1. Great Tune

2. Phenominal Customer Service

3. And service AFTER the sale... even though it was my fault. LOL

The key to great service and product is to not take on more work than one can handle.. So keep the guys busy, but don't overwork them and you'll get great results!

I have seen a Jester tune where the boost tables were incorrect. such as RPM#1 was 2500 then it went to 16000 then 12000 then 200. I think the hex got currupt just make sure to have him or yourself check over the map. I had to help this guy fix his car because it would not boost over 18 PSI.

Was John made aware of that? I've seen a few hex files corrupted from various tuners. If he's not informed he cant fix it.

Tables are incorrect when the wrong ECU identifier is used when trying to load your ecu onto your EcuFlash software initially.

I got same unusual RPM values when I first tried to load mine, I was like - "WTH kind of flash am I using at first" but eventually zlancerman said it was the identifier. For 04 there's like 5 different ID's and two of them can easily confuse ADD people, and thats what happened to me.

I'm not saying your friend is ADD, but I seriously doubt JestR purposely went out of his way and adjusted the RPM sacle, but I would likely guess the wrong ID is used.

Why the hell mitsu used so many 04 identifiers is beyond me - maybe it was their launch to keep great tools like EcuFlash release postponed until 2006 J K

Its not him, its your definition file for the particular rom..

I would suggest to tuners that they supply the correct definition file with the person's rom, back to the person so they don't have a problem..

I do see this pretty often since there are about 16-20 different variations of the 03/04 rom, and a few for the 05.. All are similar, but different enough that making big jumps in ECU Identifier number will likely throw everything off..

Every revision of the rom shifts the data around slightly when its compiled.. If the data always occurs in a particular order, and there is a specific signature of bytes for every bit of data in the rom, I could write a program that extracts all the definitions. Once the Rom is documented and we have all the data sections and what they do, you'll probably see the amount of available options that can be adjusted to increase dramatically anyway.

I couldnt get Jestr to answer more than 1 email, and that took a couple of days and a number of emails. I couldnt even get him to tell me which email to send paypal to. Finally I just gave up. Broke out the wideband from the old DSM alond with evo scan and went to work. Had it done within a couple of hours.

Sounds like all of them should be located and hosted at a particular site or location.

I put up stock roms as I get them, maybe I should match them to new definitions if they need it and get those up there too. I spend so much time doing R&D I frequently forget to write about the stuff I'm working on or post new updated files.
