best AFR safety/performance,
best AFR safety/performance,
sorry for a newb question i just got my evo 3 days ago and i wanted to jump right in to tuning, wideband 02 on the way, i live in cali 91 octaine
what should the AFR be at for it to run safet yet get the most performance in the mid and upper range. also as far as knock goes how many counts would you say is generaly acceptable as far as higher rpm knock goes.

A:F required will vary from car to car, timing, boost used and so forth , amount of knock allowed is the amount that doesn't pull timing (or lower OCT number) with a safety margin depending how risky you feel. Sorry for newby answer
To answer his question 11.0-11.2 Safe 11.2-7 More performance. Depending on the car the car might knock @ 11.5 and pull timing which is where your HP is.
Not too sure how many knocks will put it into the lower timing map.

It seems to imply that knock count <= 5 is ok.
