I believe somewhat that advancing the MIVEC near redline actually loses power. Look at this dyno chart for a VG30DETT with cam phasing on and off. With the cam phasing system enabled the power drops off drastically at high RPMs.

I would really like to see back to back dynos comparisons of the stock MIVEC table vs. a zeroed out MIVEC table vs. a MIVEC table with the cam phasing incremented over stock. Anyone willing to do some dyno runs to benefit the rest of us?

Cool information. It would be neat to see such a comparison. I do believe MIVEC has some pretty good gains associated with it, but mostly in low-midrange torque and spool-up. There must be gains to be had by tweaking the map, one just needs to look at the JDM RS map to be certain of this.

I'm just miffed that my tuner told me the maps would be changed when they obviously weren't

I don't know if its me who did it - but IF it is ME and if it is stock its an error on my behalf

IF its me - I will work with you to correct it

If not I am sure who ever did it will help you

One MIVEC map is not used and referenced as (future use).

We were not the tuner, and yes we modify the MIVEC mapping.

MIVAC is different. That is the map for Variable Air Conditioning control.

<edit>

I figured he meant MIVEC but typed MIVAC.

UPDATE: Okay, this sucks.

WORKS (the company that did the flash) has responded to my inquiry. Apparently, they have been seeing CELs from MIVEC adjustments on the tune...something to do with oil control valve failure.

I'm not sure what the deal is with this, or if anyone else has heard anything about it. It might require its own thread. Seems like pretty big news. P0300 ver 2.0?

Did they list a code for this alledged oil control valve failure?

I ask because I had a code the other day that absolutely made no sense, and I couldnt find it. If I remember correctly it was 2189.

Now that is funny. I've tuned about 4 9's with no CELS from mivec changes. Also, a handful of other tuners have as well.

Maybe Works is talking about the 250wtq and less that their non-mivec changed tunes get? That could possibly cause a human cell. maybe.

I guess all the UK and JDM evo 9's get cells from different mivec maps as well?

Vishnu customer I read had thrown the same code.

I suspect it is from advancing the MIVEC excessively or out of range.
