The knock link was good "in its day" since it was better than nothing..

The TurboXS UTEC's knock detection did a decent job also, it couldn't discriminate differences in frequencies, but it was able to adjust the sensitivity at different RPM ranges where the voltage threshold was different for those levels.. I had experience where the knock detection on the UTEC was fairly consistent with the stock ECU, only not quite sensitive enough in its stock settings.

I agree about the tuner pro's knock sensor, only its mainly because of the location it gets mounted.. the closer you mount it to the stock location, the better it will read.. But its value is in being able to listen to it yourself and let your brain do the knock detection.. I was using that very sucessesfully (I still do when I am trying to determine if knock is noise or real knock, thats how I found the clunking of my downpipe)

I used the headphone setup as well from time to time. Yet my car really never knocked enough for me to make good use of it. Or my ears were not trained good enough. that is a nice feature non the less. it reminds me of when I use my stethlescope at work. But sounds much different. hehehe

Yeah, I can imagine if your patient sounded like an engine you'd have bigger problems to deal with.. LOL
