ECUflash v. ECU+ compatability?
I just got my Tactrix cable and was wondering if it would be compatible with the ECU+? I have read no because of a jumper that needs to be installed or switched?
I haven't hooked the cable up yet and don't want to until I know they are capatible.
Thanks

Its 100% compatible.. The jumper/switch is to disable the built-in OBD-II reader on the ECU+ that will interfere with the Tactrix cable. The switch works best because you can then disable the reader only when you need to.
Its documented in the ECU+ documentation and on their website.. However its inside the unit, its a jumper labeled OBD
To make my life easier, I wired a switch to replace the jumper so I can switch back and forth whenever I need to.

The switch is the most convenient mod for me.. The OBD-II features of the ECU+ are also available in the palm software he provides so it makes sense to keep the function available for use.
The Scan tool I found works perfectly, however I only am using it on other cars since the OBD functionality is already in the ECU+ and its easy enough to use.. In reality I'm frequently switching back and forth anyway..

MJ - The fuel values that I have inputted into the ECU+ are they able to be transferred over to the ECUflash to send to the ROM? What I mean is that can I take the fuel correction values I have in the ECU+ tables and manually transfer them over to the ECUflash program and still obtain the same AFRs I am currently running.
I assume I may be able to since the ECUflash allows the user the subtract or add a percentage of fuel just like the ECU+.
Thanks as always.

Thats something you'll have to "get a feel for" The percentage your removing from fuel, is in reality the value of the signal in the MAF, which means your reducing the load the engine sees.. There is no direct correlation, ultimately you zero out the ECU+ and then make educated guesses at the new values based on your logging, and zero in on it...
Like Jack said, it's not a 1 to 1 thing. You most certainly can get the afr dialed in however you wish in ecuflash. I prefer to adjust fuel in ecuflash because it does not alter the maf signal like ecu+ fueling does so you don't have to worry about jumping load cells and getting into higher timing.

I was aware that the ECU+ simply adjusted the MAF signal similar to AFCs but, I guess I should have thought of that first as the value would be different since one is a voltage signal while the other is a ratio.
Oh well. I am just waiting for my display unit to come back from PLX after they replaced my old one, which had a problem with the circuit board then I will start to play. Now to just find a logger other than the ECU+ that can log widebands. Mitsulogger possibly (hint, hint MJ)?

I have taken a break from coding for a bit.. But wideband support is planned for the v2 of Mitsulogger, its just that because I have the ECU+ I have no pressing need to get it incorporated into Mitsulogger for the time being. (I can correlate the ECU+ and Mitsulogger data pretty easily)
I have a bunch of work to do with Mitsulogger v2 alpha code, basically I'm making it more script based so its functionality can be modified by the end user.. This is in addition to plugins.

MJ as always your hard work is much appreciated. I want to get rid of the ECU+ all together due to the nagging P0300 code but, I need to log the wideband AFRs so for now I am leaving it in. Once the Mitsulogger has the capability to do that as well as boost I'll be as happy as pig in mud
Its nice to hear..
But I love the ECU+ and I am inclined to think that the P0300 issue may not be entirely a problem with the ECU+ since I only get P0300's when I make adjustments that cause the car to run a bit lean at cold start...
I honestly wouldn't remove the ECU+, its by far the best logging device available, plus it has MAF translation and a bunch of other goodies built in (rear o2 simulator, etc..) The fact that it can be used for fine tune and fixing anomolous MAF readings is another benefit.
The Stock ECU will never accurately show you some data due to the nature of how it works.. the 1C load (ECU load) only shows to 160, the Airflow Frequency only shows to 1609hz, RPM values are "chunky" as they dont accurately represent the RPM, only 'round what it is.. the benefit of using both is you have accurate log data directly from the sensors for the items that are important, and accurate knock and trim data from the ECU, plus AFR data (in ECU+ if you hooked up your wideband to it)
You just can't get that with the stock ROM, Modified roms are starting to get patches available to overcome this shortcoming, but its not 100% either.
There will be a time when the stock rom can be patched, modified, altered, tweaked, with new and enhanced features.. but that will be a year or two before we see things like that. Very few of us are willing to experiment, and even fewer are proficient enough to make the first patches..
Figure it this way.. In a year, you'll probably see patches and capabilities along the lines of what the honda guys are doing with crome and other tools.. But at the moment, the ECU+ is still better at logging this stuff.

MJ - Out of curiousity when is the timeframe on the release of V2 Mitsulogger. Also, I used it to log tonight and was wondering if the load values in the log translate and can be used in the ECUflash? Are they the same loads in the fuel and timing maps? Also what is the AFR values? How can they be used in an actualy ratio?
