Macs and ECUFlash/Evoscan - updated with logs and results
Well this question has been all over the place since ECUFlash came out. Today, I was able to meet up with a fellow Evo owner to play with the software on our Evos. Very interesting stuff, so crazy how the software is able to do all that it does.
I have a Mac G4 PowerBook (1.5GHz, 1.25GB RAM) loaded with Virtual PC. I was able to get both programs loaded successfully. I was even able to pull my ROM from my ECU and was able to log for a bit. The only issue I noticed was in EvoScan. The logging would timeout a lot, I would get about 10 seconds of logging and it was stopped. I also noticed that it made my RPM go up to 2000 without me touching it... Twice. ECUFlash worked flawlessly.
Viewing my flash, my low and high octane maps were set to the same. Although, my ignition maps were changed from the stock maps a good amount. The block of 8* is not present in my flash. I will be taking a further look into comparing my maps to a few others to see what's going on. It should be a lot of fun to tune my car.
So, both programs work on a Mac running on Virtual PC. I will attempt to play with ECUFlash more to see if I can get it to work. Time to read up.

Are you running a Mac or a PC?
I will be download my ROM again and get about 2-3 third gear logs at 20 PSI on 91. Should be interesting and fun.

Back again posting about emulators and logging software.
It seems that both EvoScan and Mitsulogger do not log correctly going through an emulator on a Mac. It logs a little bit but then it will skip RPMS. For example, it will log 2000-3000 then skip to 3400, skip 3600, etc., etc.. I am thinking that the program is having a hard time logging

The first two are on my Mac PowerBook G4 running Virtual PC. The third is on a PC which logs flawlessly.
Now viewing my logs. The PC log was a pretty much a full third gear run, shifted to 4th, stopped at the end of 4th. I was tuned by Al @ DynoFlash. There is a few counts of knock upwards to 8 and 9 at the top end near 7000 RPM. Now the main question is, what would I do to actually remove the knock that I am getting? Viewing my ROM, the low and high octane maps are the same, but the ignition map seems modified a good amount. My AFRs through the pulls are low 10s @ 1.4 bar and it seems to pull very good and I dont feel knock/hesitation/pinging like I have in my previous boosted cars. Should I start with adjusting my low and high octane maps to get a steady AFR, then tune my IGN maps? I never had so many options to play with before. My only previous experience tuning was in my All-Trac with my VPC/GCC combo which was 100x easier.

Although I've had good success with USB passing through while using VMWare, your the first person who has really tried to do this that I'm aware of..
In reality, I'm not surprised, the problem with communications is that if the port doesnt get the priority it needs, it will drop data. Especially with applications like Mitsulogger which has a very short timeout to improve performance..

I use a mac with bootcamp.
Evoscan .97 works, Mitsulogger works, ecuflash 1.28 and 1.33 works
evoscan 2.0 and ecuflash 1.34 do not work...
Why, I dont know and dont care =-)
Hope that helps!
Cheers!
