open/closed loop.

i know as 02 sensor is warming up the car is in closed loop,

somebody told me that at WOT the car also goes in to closed loop is that true?

And if that is the case are the tables in ecuflash we are altering only for closed loop?

If they are, how do we alter the open loop tables.

Exchange the words "closed" and "open" throughout (or do you Americans spell it thruout ? ) and your post will be correct.

wait so at 02 sensor warm up its open loop then? and at WOT its open loop?

everything else like partial throttle driving is closed loop?

what do the ecu flash tables affect open or closed loop?

so your telling me theoreticly, you can get to a point, with mods and such, that if your going up a hill at partial throttle you generate a high enough load that you can blow up your motor in closed loop? versus if you were going at WOT up that same hill in open loop at your tuned settings your motor would be fine.

No, there is a load threshold where the ECU drops out of closed loop mode.. This is in addition to the Throttle input..

What is important is that you take into account your open loop tuning at those slightly lower load levels, HOWEVER, you will almost always cross into open loop under load simply because the boost will rise under load, and the engine will ingest more air..

this is very basic stuff, to answer your questions it would be good if you knew the difference between closed and open loop fully, then you could ask questions to further learn what you are trying to instead of confusing people, those initial questions you asked are on every forum about cars in history so a little searching will get you a long way

I think the more important question is...when does the car switch from closed to open?
I think that's somewhat of a gray area though.

I completely agree. I need to know when this happens too. Is there something that can be logged so that we know when the switch over happens?

There are a few ways to do it but if your using EVOScan look at o2 feedback. when it goes to 100 it made the switch from closed to open.

Interesting
That is exactly what products like the Split Second ESC1 do.
For NA cars, it feeds a false 02 sensor signal when it senses boost in the hopes of forcing the car into open loop.

Thanks for the info. Very helpful.

Sometimes I'll log the 02 feedback as 100 during idle. Strange.

the EcU will periodically drop out of closed loop at idle.. Sometimes it has to do with your fuel trims being out of range, or other reasons..

Interesting. I have stock injectors. Fuel trims out of range?
