BUMP....Also, why do folks say the stock 9 BCS is bad?

MJ -- Are you able to do more w/ the Perrin solenoid? Thanks in advance!

I sat down and thought about using the stock bcs and my mbc but the stock boost control works by venting air to increase pressure and the mbc opens to reduce pressure so the two systems would be fighting each other instead of complimenting each other

Man, you guys make this sound like a quick easy mod, but I just spent a good hour trying to pry that pill out of the hose. It was tough squeezing that pill to the end of the hose while being careful not to damage the hose.

since there's a bit of a debate. for outright response and peak hold capabilities which is best? mbc or bcs? because if the bcs can do 90% of the mbc i'm willing to learn hehehe

I believe the BCS / ECU setup to be better at controlling taper than MBC (and better for climate changes), but the MBC easier to change max psi.

I have found that installing a vacuum connector , between the line from the T to the BCS, with a very small bleeder hole in it will allow you to run as much boost as you want. Be very careful as a 1/16" hole will spike at 30+ psi (start with a #59 / 60 drill bit).

if it helps any i had a mbc on my car and last night swithced back to the stock sylenoid with my flash. the car feels smoother under boost with the stock bc, and after driving it for hours i dont know how i made it all that time with the mbc, i also learned how annoying ptb can be with an mbc. im sticking with the stocker until i wire in a perrin 3 port one.

For those of us with a MBC/EBC, will removing the pill hold/increase boost or have any effect? or is it already being bypassed by the BC new solenoid, therefor makes no difference?

Thanks

it will not do anything as you are bypassing the stock bc.

I skimmed the thread pretty quick so sorry if I missed it but is there any reason you cant just cut the inch out of the line that contains the restrictor and save all the hassle?

that will work, but there isn't a whole lot of extra length in the lines.

My car makes ~21 psi without the pill removed using the stock BCS's. I have a EBC but I havent wired the solenoid back in after the last trip to Mitsu so I've been running on thes stockers. I still have my EBC's gauge / controller hooked up though and it does a peak hold, today I saw a 24psi spike on the BCS. Normally it's 20.4 or 21.2 though. This is without any pills removed.

Also, For those of you looking fab an mbc on the cheap, you can use the type of brass valve for your ice-maker water supplies to bleed off air. You can pick them up at home depot and they are adjustable. We've been using them on Honda's for years. If you need to bleed off more air you can put more than one inline.
