Brand of cable for serial to USB?

Ok so i got my zeiotronix, now i know all you have to do is simply run to radio shack and pick up a serial to usb conversion, but ive read posts of people buying cables that didnt work. So i was wondering if somebody could give me the brand of cable that worked? so i dont have to go back and forth returning cables? i just wanted the exact brand that somebody uses?

I went to radio shack and they wanted $35 for a serial to usb converter so i went to frys and got one for $15 works great you just need to make shure to look up your com port settings in device manager and change to which com port you want to use in zeitronix software.

nah you can still select com1 for your wideband (usb converter), your tactrix can be set to com 23 or whatever by default it doesn't matter, because EvoScan and EcuFlash use a direct usb port access and ignore the port number.

check out http://www.socketcom.com/. They have the best add-on serial ports available. Very consistant. I wouldn't use anything cheap.

Well I have the fry's one and still the same problem. Logworks works flawlessly and instantly picks it up while Evoscan spits out nothing but garbage numbers when looking at the correct com port. That makes 3 adapters that work for EVERYTHING but evoscan AFR logging, all other aspects of the usb-serial adapter work fine.
