Anti-Lag Question

Does anyone know yet what all the antilag settings are for?

Correct me if I'm wrong but dont the Euro cars use antilag? Isn't it just retarding the timing and dumping more fuel so as to ignite or backfire which causes the turbo to stay spooled?

I notice the antilag maps on my car are set the opposite, they increase timing and decrease fuel in those lower rpm cell ranges.

I know the Euro cars have some additional plumbing on top but why would you need that if all the antilag is doing is retarding timing and dumping in more fuel?

Just curious.
