A public flogging for what? Taking the time to go to the dyno and test and tune and then posting what I found to try and further someone else's knowledge?

Yeah, real mature, lets flog someone for trying to learn, then trying to teach. I make no claim to being an expert. I do not profess to be the end-all source for everything tuning. I have done a bit of it, and obviously I still don't know everything there is about how the Evo ecu works, but do you?

I also don't have six hours a day to devote to reading about it here or elsewhere.

So I don't know it all, so I mixed up the timing maps my first time tuning my car and now John is mad at me for violating our "agreement". So what?

Come on, what are you gonna flog me for? Trying to learn? Trying to share knowledge and further the understanding of others as they try to help me as well. Right. Go ahead then. Flog on.

On another non-rant note, I will be returning to the dyno today to play with the "High Octane Fuel Map 2" since I was mistaken as to which map I needed to modify.

There is disagreement on which high iginition map is the "right" map.

1. John, Razorlab, and maybe JCSbanks say that the iginiton map to modifiy is number 2. I have read them say this many times.

2. Jestr, from Jestr tuning, says that the three iginition maps work together and the ECU interpolates between them. Read this last page of this closed thread.

Thanks for that info. Seems like there is a few things NONE of us fully understand about the stock ecu and how it works.

Anyone wanting my map re-posted (I have had several pm's) I will hopefully have a new one based on a Mitsu map so there will be no toes to step on as far as using someone's maps. That will be probably later tonight...

It will interpolate between map 2 and 3 if its knocking/has been knocking enough.

The last five evo 9's I have tuned on the dyno all used map 2 if everything was fine. Map 1 will be used if the car is not up to temp. I've logged it.

Eric before you develop a persecution complex, it wasnt about sharing your dyno or the map or wanting to learn. It was about sharing one part of the map that I had asked you not to as I covered in the PM. This needn't be a case of hard feelings, its just an oops mistake, accept, move on.

That is fine. When your friend posted about the "public flogging" is the only time I was really on the defensive. You have been very diplomatic, and I don't have any hard feelings.

As John said above I have no issues with you trying to learn and what not...but what I do have an issue with is when people take credit for some one else's work...thats what the flogging would have been for. Even if you called him out as having helped (being generous here) then thats ok....even in your edited post...still no mention of his name.

I mean honestly John is a much better man than I am cause I would never have pulled that post...but i'll follow his lead here and leave some things unsaid

Anyway best of luck with your tuning

Fine, its all water under the bridge now. The thing to remember really, is that it was an issue between him and I. I made a mistake, and now I think it has been cleared up. Fault is mine.

I have edited the original post to allocate credit where it was due. I honestly was not trying to take credit for his map, it was just an honest mistake that I hope now is in the past.

First off, 20psi is low for an IX, they can take a few more psi (I run 22 daily on my 8). Secondly, the WGA is a good mod when you want to run high boost - 24+ all the time. They definitely are not worthless.

Otherwise, seems like you have about ave power here. (No disrespect, just nothing really new or crazy...)

You are probably right on the wga. Good for high boost, which i am not running. Yeah, i'm fine with ave power, not really posting to show how incredible my power was, just excited about it, you know.

I know. It was a great day after I was tuned, totally a night and day change.
