Difference Between RALLIART FQXXX AND OEM ECUs

Sorry Newbie
I was wondering what is the actually difference between
Ralliart and FQXX and OEM ECU.
Is it just the Maps (ROM software) of is the actually hardware/ECU different
For both EVO 7,8 and 9.

So can a Ralliart Map be flashed onto OEM ECU
and can a FQ XXX be flashed onto a OEM.

Thanks in Advance

FQ 300-360 maps are for UK cars which are based on JDM 9.

Evo 8 FQ models had stock ECUs, they used breathing mods and the 330/340 had a piggyback.

Don't know about Ralliart.

Learn from the fuelling and timing on some of these maps, but only flash to your ECU a modification of the image you've downloaded from that ECU.

Ralliart ecu has no immobilizer function. There is a slight difference between the 7 ecu and 8 ecu the main difference being the programming for the o2 sensors meaning that if you flash a 7 rom to an 8 ecu you get a ses for o2 sensor heater circuit but the wiring are the same pins on both ecu's.The 7 ecu when flashed with a 8 rom throws ses light for fuel temperature sensor circuit high input. Also the 8 has the lean spool and antilag settings where the 7 doesn't have the extra antilag maps.

Hi

The Ralliart maps also have the load scales changed to 300 and the boost cut removed. As has been said, don't flash the whole map from one ECU to another.

What is wrong with flashing the whole maps on to the ECU?
Why do you have to flash one at a time?
Thanks

Hi

Should have made it a bit clearer. You should only flash the maps themselves, not the whole ROM image. It is a bad idea to flash in a ROM image thats not from your car.

But really if your doing lots of changes, it would be best to do one map at a time, test each works as expected, then flash the next. If you run into problems and you have flashed multipul maps, you will have more trouble finding the culprit.

I'm going to clarify a few things just because I want to remove any confusion in peoples terminology..

Flashing an entire rom from one ECU to another is not a good idea, there are several known differences between cars with different year and model cars that may share the exact same ECU model. Another problem is people frequently forget to transfer over their Immobilizer code (if their ECU uses it) and they lose their original rom.

Flashing a map from one rom to another rom is pretty common, you only need to verify that the load column values and RPM column values are the same so you don't inadvertantly "foul up" a tune.. In this case, your transferring data from a different rom to your own.. This is okay as long as you verify everything.

The reason you only flash one change at a time, is simply to reduce the time it takes to troubleshoot an error if you make one. If you flash one specific change at a time (a fuel map, or a timing map) and you find you have a problem.. You can easily find what you changed and put it back.

Or better yet, keep the old version of every rom you alter prior to saving it again, so if you do make a change, and cannot find what caused it, you can step back to the previous rom until you find the problem. Its basically the scientific method where you keep as much "Control" as possible so only your current work is the variable.
