So i've richened up my high octane fuel map in the 3.5k-4k range in the 220+ load range. Problem is.... I had it richer than the low octane map! So when the octane flag level went below 100 from knock, I'm guessing that it will interpolate between the high and low maps... making it leaner now!

So, yeah, don't forget to keep your low octane map richer than the high octane map.

 

Yeah this is something I have to periodically remind people.. I've done it myself on occasion.. Generally I copy the high octane maps into the low octane maps, then reduce timing and increase fueling in areas of higher load that need it.

Yeah, good point.
What you can do is:
Copy both maps in excel, calculate the diffrence for each field and store this.
Every time you do major adjustment on high map, you can re calculate the low map with the diffrence you have stored.

 

wouldnt it also switch to the low octane timing maps as well?

 

The reality is with tuning.. You start with a very conservative safe base tune.. once you have that you can put that into the low octane maps and start your more aggressive tuning in the high octane map.. this is actually the method I use more frequently now.
