High/Low Octane Fuel Map confusion

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered before but when i'm looking at my basemap for an 06 IX

the High octane map is richer than the low octane. I thought the map would be the other way around so it would richen up if knock occurred not lean out.

I spoke with JohnBradely about this a long time ago, he probably doesn't remember when i told him it didn't feel like my car was any faster after a reflash. He looked at my flash and said the maps looked backwards.

My concern is because my friend with a IX MR has the same thing with his high octane map being richer in the peak torque area than on the low octane map.

any suggestions? i can take some screen captures if that helps

you talk about fuel but what about timing?
say you have this
high maps a/f 10.1 with 6* timing.
low maps a/f 10.4 with 1* timing.

obviously the lower map would be more conservative than the higherm, much safer.

make them look the same and problem solved........

Mine are identical - I couldn't get my car to respond to afr changes without making the high and low afr maps the same. The car pulls timing when it knocks, keeping the same afr wont really matter anyway? and under normal knocking conditions it doesn't even go to the low maps anyway - i "think" that is when things just totally get out of hand.

The stock Evo 9 rom has the low-octane fuel map leaner than the high-octane fuel map.

FYI

Yep, I noticed that the other day when I pulled mine.

The timing on the low octane map is 3-7* behind the high octane map though.
