Our ECUs can have eight sets of maps...
... and they have variable that allows us to switch between them that is always set to zero but I can sort that
With the memory access mod I've made to the MUT protocol we could switch between 8 sets of maps in either ROM or RAM depending on where you have space - on the Evo 9 - lots.
Presently the ECU only uses the first set.
We can have 8 sets of the following if we want them, but we don't need to have them all in each set:
Idle RPM in neutral
ISCV step in neutral with aircon off
Hi oct fuel
Lo oct fuel
Those three funny antilag tables
Boost limit
MAF pulse calibration
Hi oct ign 1-3
Lo oct ign 1-3
Fault codes that Bez has recently defined
The loggers are being updated to send our new read/write commands.
VVT and boost control tables have only one set, but I am sure we could change that.
There is a lot of potential with this, if you can find an input/output to trigger the map switching it can be done if we find the address for these pins.

I just need to find the culprit of my knock, I get a count when I hit a pothole and almost always durring transition of closed to open loop
how about pin 88 for the uk evo9s which is the usdm only clutch pedal position switch and pins 66 or 67 on the usdm evo 9s which are (unused in usdm) water spray auto and manual switches (respectively). this is according to aems pinout of the usdm and edm evo 9 ecus
Should work on 7/8 too, just less ROM/RAM storage on 7/8 vs 9.
Whilst there are inputs and outputs we haven't linked them yet to the registers in the ECU. The multilayer PCB and SMT chips are difficult to follow, and Bez is struggling around a black box multiplexer thing at present.
So the main way to do this custom stuff for now is through the loggers.

F'in sweet. I have a switch under my steering column that I've been wanting a use for.
It would definitely be perfect for map switching. Hmm, valet, race gas, stock, not so stock. Drool....

This answers my "How do I have a Gas and E85 tune"
This opens alot of possibilities..
Race map, Street Map, Valet Map
Failsafe map, Nitrous Map, etc..
At this point you would need a spare input for a map switch.. a rheostat or input might work well if it had detents..
Even if the maps are in rom, this is a huge deal.

I still love the idea of potentially using a fuel sensor to determine alcohol levels and have the ability to run true flex fuel applications
I will have to dig and see how MB does this. I love having access to most of MBs tech resources at home too

it shouldn't be to hard to find an unused i/o circuit in the 8 and 9 ecus. from what I am understanding that would allow push button map switching
