I am planning on getting a spare ECU from the junkyard for my 05 Evo. I think I have to change the immobilizer number to make it the same as my current ECU so I can get it to work on my car.

Do I basically plug the ECU harness in the spare ECU DL the Rom and change the immobilizer code? Is there anything else that I need to change?

I ask, because there seems to be confusion on how to do this

Download the rom from your existing ECU, write it to the new ECU so their both EXACTLY the same.. then modify the new ECU to your hearts content.. At a minimum you definitely need to update the Immobilizer code.

 

I need to do the same, I'm up to about 700 writings on my ecu not to mention two FedEx flights and flashes

 

wow 700 thats a lot and most people believe it can only take 100flashes

 

Damn, that is a lot. I thought the 100 or so I did while learning bout boost control was a lot.
