Problem connecting to ECU
Problem connecting to ECU
Hi,
Background:
I am trying to read the ECU on my Euro EVO 9 2006.
I am using a PC with win xp, a tactrix cable and ecuflash 1.3.
I get these errors when trying to read the ecu on my EVO 9 after I have connected the usb-cable, turned on the ignition, selected "read from ecu" and selected 2006 evo9/at in the list and pressed OK.
[23:27:37.140] 121 ROM metadata models read.
[23:27:37.140] checksum module "subarudbw" loaded.
[23:27:37.140] flashing tool "wrx02" loaded.
[23:27:37.140] flashing tool "wrx04" loaded.
[23:27:37.140] flashing tool "sti04" loaded.
[23:27:37.140] flashing tool "sti05" loaded.
[23:27:37.140] flashing tool "mitsukernel" loaded.
[23:27:37.140] flashing tool "mitsukernelocp" loaded.
[23:27:37.140] flashing tool "mitsubootloader" loaded.
[23:27:49.531] unable to connect to vehicle interface.
I have tried to downgrade to ecuflash 1.28 but it gives an other error, it says something like "sending init 1, sending init 2, sending init 3" then it gives a popup like "error, check the log"
Cable seems to work as far as i can see.
Please help, I am getting more and more frustrated..
The ECU is supposed to be stock. I had problems running EVOscan also, mitsulogger does work though..
Thanks..

Have tried again to re-install everything but still can't connect..
[00:05:58.171] Version 1.30.1095

[00:06:17.765] unable to connect to vehicle interface.
In the bottom right of ecuflash it reads something like: Openport 1.3 for Mitsubishi xjyz23
I now realize that I get exactly the same error when I plug-in the USB cable in the computer without plugging it into the car.. So i have no connection at all to the ECU..
BTW, I got evoscan to work by changing regional settings for , and .
So, Evoscan and mitsulogger works but not ecuflash.

After you connect the the usb cable you don't turn the ignition to "ON". First click whatever function you want, then a little pop up window tells you to turn the ignition to "ON".
.But back on topic, andber is there any other Evo in the area you can try this with? It sounds like you have been able to log the car the car with the logging tools and the cable correct? From what I understand one of the connectors on the cable does the flashing and the other does the logging. Is it possible that the one ECUFlash needs to flash the ECU is busted?
There is a certain way to connect to your ECU. There's a certain order in which you open the ECUFlash application, plug in your usb, plug in OBDII. Try doing those 3 steps in different orders until one works for you and them remember it. I would tell you but I forgot myself. If you do it in the wrong order you'll get "unable to connect to vehicle interface".

i was getting the same problem a while ago with EVO IX's, ECUFlash just wouldn't connect to the ECU. however I could get evoscan to log off the ECU with no problems.

i've never had it happen with an VIII though.

I need someone who has a copy of the install file (.exe) to send me a copy.
Thanks
