white evo owners

i was washing my car (a white evo 9) that is only 7 months old i started 2 c a **** load of little brown spots on it. later that day i was talking 2 my buddy that worked in a bodyshop n he told me that it was rail dust. this is when the car gets a clear coat n be4 it drys they ship it on a train n the dust clings 2 the paint. i was told that u only really c this on white cars i was wondering if any other white evo owners had this problem.

yea i own a white evo and i do see brown dookie spots on my car... i just buff it right out when it got warmer outside.

I heard its from the road salt from winter. i see you live up in PA so i figure that could be the reason.

I didn't have this problem either but from what your bodyshop guy says maybe it doesn't happen every often? Either way this post is in the wrong forum .

clay bar is all you need...... Use it with the provided spray wax as the lubricant.... works like a charm. (meguires makes a good clay bar kit)

Oh yeah, make sure you re-wax with a really good wax after you clay bar your paint. The clay bar will strip your paint of any and all impurities, including your wax.

Rail dust is a common problem with vehicles. I used to work for a detail shop and we would have to clay bar almost all of the new cars that were transported via railroad.

The wheels on a train product hot metal shavings that get into the air and once they land on the vehicles that are being transported it burns into the clearcoat.

Hope that helps, +1 on buying a claybar kit and setting aside an afternoon to do the work. Take your time and you will get them all out.

He is probably trying to find a way to tune out the brown spots on his car.

do you live near a steel mill? we see that around here all the time from fallout from the steel mills and the BP Amoco refinery. yearly clay bar and keeping a good wax on it takes care of it
