Timing map with 280 cams...

Does anyone have a screenshot of their timing map with 280 cams? I can only seem to run about 9* peak timing with my setup without getting knock....is that right?

Should be more. I have 280's and peak around 14-15* at 7.5k

Are your injectors scaled? Look for any gaps in the timing ie, 2-3* increments can cause knock.

why don't u post ur map and the we can help you.

you can't compare your timing against anyone elses without knowing what octane they run, how much boost and what their air/fuel ratio is.

You can't compare your timing to anyone elses, period. All engines and set-ups are different. There are too many variables to compare timing.

As long as AFR's are no leaner than 11.5:1 @ peak torque(3000-4000rpm) and taper to 11.1:1 at peak power to revlimiter. Your timing is what it is as long as your are properly tuning.

Also, having a lot of cam overlap raises dynamic compression, which will limit your ignition timing. So be careful on how you have your cam gears set-up(if you have adjustable cam gears). Also, make sure your cams gears did not skip any teeth during install. A skip in the wrong direction can cause a lot of overlap.

Good luck!

*9 peak as in the highest or 9* peak boost/torque? Is this on you 110 octane / 25psi tune or?

I run 3-4* at peak torque/boost on 100 octane at 25psi but like iTune said, I have my gears currently +1/-1 and other things that are probably different than your evo.

Here is my timing map. I have 880's in the car scaled correctly. This is my pump gas map on 21psi and my load starts in the 160 load column at 4K and tapers to the 140 load column at 5500. I dont know whats wrong. I have the cams at 0/0 on the stock cam gears.

Not to steal the thread, but I am going to be installing cams (264/264 GSC) in about a month and a half. This seemed to be a very close thread to a simple questions I have. Here is the pertinent mods on the 2005:

93octane, 680's, 26-27psi boost, AFR low 11's in 3rd gear pulls, no knock hitting loads of high 280's to 300's +/-10.

Ignition is set to here for peak torque area:

2000 - 4
2500 - 3
3000 - 2
3500 - 1
4000 - 3
4500 - 4

When installing the cams, do you generally leave the maps alone, and just adjust AFR, or with cams does the ignition maps generally shift up (more degrees) or shift down (less advance)?

Since you have injectors, calc load as reported by evoscan is incorrect. The best way to find true load is either doing the 2byte load mod or cross referencing the timing you are hitting (without knock) with the timing in the target cells.

I would say you are probably 240-260 load.

You need to know what your ROM ID is. You can find out by going into ECUflash and looking under ROM info, INternal ID. Once you have determined what ROM you have, search on here for the 2byte load mod for your ROM ID. Or, post it up here for us to see, we can point you to the right thread.

This is a must for easy and precise tuning. It allows you to see exactly what the load is, not calculated...actual.

My ROM ID is: 94170008

Also if you find a patch for me...will it include the patch to disable lean spool?

Here is a thread full of info, some of which pertains to your ROM and 2 byte load
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...0008+byte+load

And another
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...0008+byte+load

I wasnt able to find anything pertaining to lean spool disable for your ROM, but i'm sure it's out there. It's a very common ROM.

I did a how-to for 96940011 ROM(https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...light=96940011) you can use this tutorial to show how to do this, but don't use the code or details because your ROM requires a different set. I am giving this to you for a pictorial view of what everything will look like, of course the code will be different.

Good luck!

I still haven't been able to find code that gives me the full MUT table for 70008 like you have iTune.

<table name="MUT table" address="38060" type="3D" level="1" scaling="Hex16">
<table name="X" address="3b000" type="X Axis" elements="32" scaling="Hex16" />
<table name="Y" address="3b000" type="Y Axis" elements="16" />
</table>

This is what I found on aktivematrix. This will bring up a dummy mut table since the dimensions here are a sham.

Its amazing that 70008 is one of the most common ROMs, but succinct, understandable commentary if you aren't a programmer is very very difficult to come across.

I finally figured out everything after pouring over about 4 threads concurrently. The information, at least for me, was smattered all over the place and took a while to put together. While I don't have a nice MUT table like iTunes does, I was able to get he 0x00 and 1x00 tables changed to what they need to be.
