Lopey idle with MIVEC

So I have seen a few threads that talk about this being done, but nothing specific about actually doing it. Stock cams give it about 19.2* at idle and S1's about 14.4* if you want the nice throaty lope that makes our cars sound even better. That is all.

Yeah it is pretty rice, but S1's should idle like its actually a cam in my opinion. Doing this for stock cams is rice, but hey why not?

lol i saw a few threads too but i never bothered to read them. So your saying if i go in my timing map and change the idle timing to 19.2 or close that it will lope? lol thats great stuff if thats how it works. I never wanted to touch timing at idle because i didnt know what would happen or if it could hurt the motor. But heck maybe ill try this to see what it sounds like then change it back cause im sure it would sound badass with my TBE. Rice city baby! lmao but seriously though lemme know

If you go to crazy it will throw a miss fire code. Had a cust here with Cams and wanted more lope so I took it to 20deg at idle. Sounded mean as hell but it tossed a code in a few days.

Very good point, I didnt think of that as a possibility. Okay so this isnt for the faint of heart or those without a little common sense.

10-20% load, 500-1000 rpm is all I bothered to do. That way when its cold it will start up and idle like it should (1500 or so) without doing anything like dying or stalling out.

get some exhaust cam gears, and you can do it without touching mivec.

I know it sounds weird, but the first time I did it sounded the same as well. I let the car sit, came out and started it and it was lopey. It might have something to do with being warmed up first?
