So I decided to shop for a laptop for ECUflash, ended up browsing through QVC and came up with these laptops under $1000. Which one would you get? Keep in mind that I don't want to spend a fortune for a laptop just to use it for one purpose(downloading email tunes). So thats why I narrowed the list down to laptops under $1k. And I picked QVC because of the 4 easy payment plan.
Hell, You can get a Dell XPS M1210 off of Ebay for about $800.00 now a days. That would be an awesome laptop to have. That's where I got mine and couldn't be happier! Good Luck.

get an IBM with the Mag composite shells, if hthye fall off the seat or something it'll be perfectly fine. I use my T60p which is overkill for something like logging, but i need it for CAD and stuff at work, things flown out of the passenger seat a few times already and not even a scratch on it. Can't beat IBM build quality

The last two companies I have worked for buy nothing else for their "road warriors".
Also, no one has yet mentioned it, but the best reason to buy IBM/Lenovo is their exclusive "eraserhead" mouse substitute. Most people quickly prefer it to a mouse in normal use. It's unquestionably superior when you're using the computer on an airline drop-down table or have it belted into the passenger seat for solo datalogging.

My 6 year old IBM T20 slammed into the dashboard twice for emergency braking and still works. It's a common need in south carolina to have to slam on the brakes often.
Yeah, the eraserhead thing is very convenient - middle finger on the red button, thumb on the left clicker, and left hand on the stering wheel is the way I drive.
