Need Rom
I think it was just a word of encouragement to get into the habit of backing everything up before changing anything.
Most of us are in the habit of downloading and saving a copy of the rom before making changes to it.
There isn't alot of discussion about disabling the immobilizer because its an anti-theft device. Its one thing to lose your code, which is why the original rom is backed up and saved in several locations.
I personally don't answer detailed questions about it, or how to do it, because I know there are people out there who want to do this so they can steal a car and swap an ECU to get it running.
I feel your pain though, at least you figured out a workaround. There are some stock roms around, just be careful since some of the "Stock" roms aren't always completely stock.
