Tried to reflash and now cant start!
ok... plan of action (haha... oh jeez im a genius...eh?) ok seriously, im downloading installing the rom unlocker from activematrix. im hoping it will allow me access to the rom currently flashed on my car since it appears i flashed someone elses immobilzer code along w/ the flash? anywyas.. IF i get into it... im assuming i can just re-write my stock flash? if not, assuming i can edit the rom on the ecu and change the immobilzer code to mine. Now, the million dollar question, where/how do i get my code from? I have my stock rom saved... cant seem to locate the info... I swear, someone help me and I'll NEVER mess w/ my ECU again!! ill leave it to the pros...
Just put the stock ROM back in. You can find your immobilzer code in ECUFlash under Misc->Immobilizer. Ensure ECUFlash is running in Developer mode Options->User Level and set it to developer.
Write it down and save it a few places
.
Oh and just copying a rom from someone else even if they have the exact same mods doesn't necessarily mean anything. Not all cars are created equal so what works for one car might not work for another.

Yay!!!!! hallelujah!!!!!! thank YOU!!! ALL!!! it works. Basically, i used the unlocker program from activematrix (ur the man!) and it enabled ECUFlash to read the damn flash(rom) i put on there. THEN i changed the immobilzer code to mine (fortunately i still had my stock rom file saved) Well, this allowed me to start the car on this doods flash... btw it ran like @ss... So, i reflashed my stock rom back on... and thank God it worked. Now it runs perfect again... Strange thing is, although i changed the immobilzer code and it starts, i still have to always run the unlocker program to get ecuflash to read or connect to my ECU? anyhoo... whatever, it works now. LESSON LEARNED! Im going to order my flash from a vendor asap...
^^ thats because the other rom you have probably has the init code changed to "defeat" ECUFlash. So thats why even though have the correct immobilizer code for that rom it will still require the unlocker program.
When your stock rom is in you shouldn't need the unlocker to read/write to it.
Glad that it worked out either way

I thought that there was one, maybe not as a stickie though...
Once it is a sticky, maybe we need to put a neon sign around it too...
Damn, this is happening a lot now, I can see this turing into the new "Hey, I am VTAing and I don't know why my car sucks now." thread.
Once you put your stock rom back on, you will no longer need the unlocker..
You got beat down by a double whammy..
1) the rom you tried had someone elses immobilizer code
2) the rom you tried was also locked (Init code was something other than 0001)
3) Be aware that different year roms, even some different version roms, may not work on every car. Same year roms will usually interchange, and same ECU Generation roms generally will interchange, but there are exceptions.
From personal experience, most roms made for other cars, even the same year with similar (even identical) mods still don't run very well.
Fortunately you got through this and it was a learning experience. You did do the right thing by saving your stock rom, ALWAYS save the stock rom you downloaded off your ECU, somewhere, in several locations, also write down the immobilizer code somewhere should you ever lose it.
Good job on doing the right things even though you made a mistake.
