Getting anti-lag working on EDM

Hi guys

My car has the necessary hardware, being an EDM / Gulf-spec Evo VIII MR RS. I'm looking to get the anti-lag parameters working and right now, some fields for anti-lag are showing (fuelling) while others (ignition) are not (see pic)

Can anyone help me to get anti-lag and launch control activated? Am prepared to pay a reasonable fee to get this working

I can't believe it, I'm losing sleep over this functionality, as much as I was losing sleep over not getting the launch control function to work

So first off it seems that you have a ROM that hasnt been fully defined yet, but just because you cant alter something doesnt mean it doesnt work. By "hardware" you mean it has the air injection and add'l bypass valve in the exhaust now but the antilag is not functioning? Or you want it enhanced from what it is now?

Interesting....my 05 MR USDM Rom # 96940011 has these tables accessible and editable. This uses the evo7base, IIRC yours does too.

Ghoonk i can copy this to you if you want. You will need to input your immobilizer and init code. Mine is also setup to do 2 byte load and has the MUT table and lean spool tables in too.

Be careful though and save several backups of your ROM. You would also need to copy over your fuel ignition and turbo control tables to overwrite mine.

USDM and EDM will not cooperate as far as we know. You might be able to find the addresses for what he is missing easier (they will be different most likely) though.

John: i actually have a EDM VIII Rom downloaded too but it is in some sort of .i64 file format ( im guessing compacted ? )

Do you know how to open this?

I think Bez sent it to the Aktivematrix site...Oh and i have the ROM from Bez' car too IIRC its Ralliart VIII EDM

Ghoonk: look on www.aktivematrix.com in the download section for
ROMs Not sure how to open .i64 files but you might try pming bez bashini on that site. He would def know what s up there.

Hi John,

Yes, I have the air injection and bypass valve, but the antilag function cannot be set up in the ROM. The image I put up shows that the anti-lag tables in the Timing section of the ECUFlash map has been grayed out. To respond to your second post, yes, I am looking for the addresses for the bits on timing. Question is, how do I know that the addresses are valid? Is there a way to test this?

Have spoken to Bez about it, but he needs to know something about port pins. Am trying to find out what those are, but in the meantime, I hoped someone here might have been down this journey.

@wrcwannabe: would be keen to take a look at your definition table. Could you zip it up and post it, or would you prefer to email it to me?

Ghoonk, this was factory installed hardware? If so then it is most certainly functioning. Are you just looking to enhance its operation? If this hardware was added afterward their might be some issues with the ECU pinout matching the harness for the antilag hardware (or at least as I understand since we dont have it here). This is probably what Bez is referring to I would think.

Hi John

Yes, that is factory installed, so I am just looking to enhance it's operation.

Take a look at the image above:

Under Fuel, the following functions are enabled,
Boost Enhancement (Anti-Lag) Table
Boost Enhancement (Enrich/Enlean) Anti-Lag Table

Under Timing, Boost Enhancement Adv/Ret Map 1 and Map 2 are not available, i.e. they are grayed out (as is the case for my Stationary Rev Limit)

For those of you who have managed to get Anti-Lag working, is this normal, or do I need to have Boost Enhancement Adv/Ret Map 1 and Map 2 working as well? I very suspect this should be the case.

No no, those maps have nothing to do with true antilag.. i've been trying to find howto control it, someone have to , i can't find SAS on disassembly, all needed hardware is on EDM evos from factory, but i think it's disabled in software.

What JB is saying is your anti-lag IS working. The reason your tables are grayed out is because you do not have the addresses in your definition file. So when it pulls the map, its not sure where to look for those tables. You need a new definition file for your car, or find the addresses for those tables to be able to "enhance" it.

Try this .xml, its a 2004 JDM VIII definition. Might work. Just change it from .txt to .xml and stick it in your rommetadata folder.

PS: That one I posted doesnt have the adv/ret maps enabled either. Here is a EDM one that does, can try just using the addresses and adding them into your .xml and see if that works. Same thing, change .txt to .xml

I do not have the hardware on my EDM Evo 8 Neither is in described in the service manual. Has anyone got a service manual for gulf spec evo8 MR with the hardware? There should be also the description of the functionality with some specification (when it is operating, under what conditions etc.). Additionally - maybe som additional switches or sensors are connected to ECU as well in comparison to the model without the hardware.

Bartil - do you have it on your Evo?
