Its possible to enter more than 100% in ECUFlash, but the ECU clips anything above 100.

I understand the higher boost, but I do not understand how you measure faster response and you can acheive a very smooth boost curve with the pill. This is an Evoscan log read in Logworks. The boost line is almost flat. This was done in 4th gear using the stock TBEC correction table. The only modifictions were done to the WGDC and BDEL tables.

BTW, reading Evoscan logs in Logworks is fantastic. I am now logging with Evoscan and reading/tuning with Logworks

The GM one is $10.90

Oh the harness for it is $20

It work well with AEM EMS.

I'm jealous...I've tested the evoscan 1.0 alpha but it still does not work with MTS chain LC-1+LMA3 hopefully soon.

Ok thanks . I didn't realise that all it was was the template from that thread...thought a bit more was involved.

Bringing this back from the dead as I'm doing my own research on this topic. I've heard from both sides of the argument of MBC vs. ECU-based boost control, but I have one question for those who advocate ECU-Based boost control:

What do the majority of road course/time attack EVOs run?

I was told, and I believe it to be MBCs and I'm wondering why they don't take advantage of ECU-based boost in such a demanding environment when the benefits seem obvious? thx.

I'd say 98% of the Evos I tune at the shop use ECU-based boost control.

Probably 40%-50% of those are used for motorsports, be it road course or autocross.

Here are a small sampling of some past event standings for Evos that I have tuned and use ECU-based boost control:

March 09, Infineon, Nasa TT
1st place TTA - Danny Evo 9

Feb 09, Infineon, Nasa TT
1st place TTS - Sean Evo 9
1st place TTA - Danny Evo 9

Oct 08, Thunderhill, Nasa TT
1st place TTS - Sean Evo 9 + broke track record by 2 secs, low 1:57's
1st place TTA - Yang Evo 8

2008 TTS thunderhill track record @ 1:56.6 - Sean Evo 9

Mar 08, Thunderhill, Nasa TT
1st place TTS - Josh Evo 8

April 08, Infineon, Nasa TT
1st place TTS - Sean Evo 9
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pb5QVpV8zcE
1st place TTA - Yang Evo 9
2nd place TTA - Will Evo 8

Redline Time Attack Utah Miller Motorsports park
2nd place street AWD, 2nd place overall street tire class - Yang Evo 9

Redline Time Attack Buttonwillow
2nd place street AWD - Yang Evo 9

ECU-controlled boost works great for motorsports tuning, espically the time attacks as different boost profiles are just a quick flash in the pits away. This works out great when competing in different weather/altitude/competition.

Now that the alt map switching and independent boost for each gear has been implemented in the patches, there are a ton of reasons to go with ECU controlled boost.

The major difference I saw when i switched was my timing curve. Normally my timing increased in a very linear fashion with the MBC since it started dropping boost immediately after it peaked around 4k rpm. Now with the ECU controlled boost I hold my peak boost from 4k to nearly 6k rpm before it tapers so my timing increases in very small increments til about 6k RPM, after 6k RPM it ramps up quite a lot with only a few RPM cells to make the transistion with. Thats about the only 'tuning' difference I see.....and about 20whp more at 6k RPM

It also nice not having to re-adjust my MBC every few months here in New England where the weather conditions change like crazy.
