Cause of high idle

I recently had my IM and TB ported and I just re-installed them.

I am having issues with high idle. The car is fully warmed up and EvoScan shows the target idle at about 900 RPM but my idle stays at 2k.

I also installed injectors at the same time but I have used what I believe to be correct scaling at latency values and I don't think this is related to my high idle problem.

I should also mention that I removed my EGR system. For now I left the EGR valve in place and just disconnected the vacuum lines to the EGR.

Any idea's, what are some things that I can check?

After some more searching it seems like it might be a vacuum leak, I will pressure test it tomorrow. Any other suggestions?

Vacuum leak, my guess too

Why are you removing the system? Are you changing any BE tables for it by chance?

Sounds like you and Touringbubble need to get together. He can't seem to increase his idle :lol

Actually, I increased my idle fine after the correct table was found ...

If you played with the vacuum system, then I'm gonna hop on the vacuum leak bandwagon as well. Simple question ... what does your gauge read for vacuum?

I took it out becuase when I was doing the IM and TB I figured I would just take it out and clean up a lot of the clutter on the IM. Also by removing it I wont encounter any problems with it breaking or having a vacuum hose pop of the valve (which seems to be somewhat common.)

Two solenoids I believe are in the system, along with the valve. Nevertheless, one of the solenoids is 3 way, 2 position, if you plan to dispose I would gladly purchace this part from ya.

I have an unusual hobby of collecting OEM parts

I am getting 19-20 in/hg (or whatever the units on my gauge are) of vacuum. I took of my ICV motor and cleaned it off and also blew out the ICV ports on the IM. That seemed to help as my idle went from ~1900RPM to ~1100RPM. However, when I come to a stop in first gear my idle hunts around from 800 to 1200 RPM for a second or two before resting at 1100. Whats going on???

Same thing happened to me once the pvc hose (aft) popped off the plenum, second time my idle stepper motor piston melted, third time one of those hoses that come out of the top of TB and go to the EGR system popped off (one of the EGR lines comes off the TB)

I think you should really install all the stuff back on, who cares how clean the engine bay is, performance is the important stuff

I am going to do a boost leak test today. That will let me know if I have a leak. I suspect that I may have a small leak and also perhaps I need to clean the ICV motor again. Removing the EGR should not have anything to do with my increase in idle speed.

It should not, but if you failed to dead end each egr resp hose, then you will have a vac leak.

I properly capped the signal lines on the TB. I just did a boost test and I found a couple very small leaks which I fixed but they did not have any effect.

cal26,

You gave me bad luck - this is ironic: After a 30psi sprint through 3rd my idle started hopping from about 1200 to 1800. I reached behind the EGR valve and felt a disconnected hose, it was one of the EGR valve hoses.

This is the first time this has happened, but why now?

Did you pull the coolant lines off the TB??
