GT35r Suggestions

I just picked up an EVO yesterday and it has a 35r, HKS 264 and 1000cc injectors. The car is currently tuned with UTEC and the idle is not very good. It lopes badly and the rpms fluctuate between 800 and 1400 on a cold start, as it warms it smooths out slighlty and idles around 1200. The main problem is that the car bogs when driving under 2000 rpms, (ex. taking off from a stop). Its very annoying as it makes the car buck. I ultimately wanted to get rid of the UTEC and just run a reflash as I am only interested in running pump gas at around 20-22 psi. I don't t need the option of all the different maps the UTEC offers. Does anyone agree with this? Can anyone provide a map of some sort to get 1000cc injectors idling and cruising ok?

PS I switched the UTEC to map 0, scaled my injectors and latencies according to one of the threads I found and the car would start for a second and then die. So I need some help. BTW I saved the initial map before doing this and when i was done I put that back on.

My car cranked and drove better than stock, actually, with the 35R and my tune on the stock ECU. It can be done. Get that UTEC out of there and find somebody who knows the stock ECU.

What size injectors did you have? Are 1000's going to be hard to tune with a flash?

after spending that much money on a car I wouldn't skimp on something as important as a good tune by loading up a freebie, buy a professional tune, they aren't that expensive.

I am not trying to skimp. I just want to get the car idling and cruising a little better before I have to drive somewhere to get the tune. Should I keep the UTEC or ditch it and go with a flash?

if you're using the stock MAF then I would use the stock ECU for the tune, it's quite capable and would certainly handle anything you can throw at it on pump gas.

I am using the stock MAF. My bro has an evo with 680 injectors and scaling them on was very easy and it drove well with the fuel trims right around 0. Now I tried to scale the injectors and latencies and the car wouldn't even idle? What else should I do to get it to run okay with the 1000cc injectors? I have a UTEC tuner so a wideband is available.

perhaps you don't have the right latencies for that brand of 1000cc injectors???

If the latencies and scaling is right should the car idle and cruise with these injectors? Since they are so big it won't cause any problems? I am new to this as with my supra there are no flashes and everything need to be done with a piggyback or standalone.

it should be fine, I've tuned quite a few daily driver evos with 1000cc injectors without issue.

Sounds like your utec ides at 19afr or so. That's why it's lumpy and bogs. IMO.
1000 is nothing for our ECU.
You need right latencies that differ between different type injectors (2 or 3) and you need to scale those right too. If they don't run at all, maybe you're scaling them too small. You sure you've changed the 513?

I tried again today with the number MalibuJack gave in one of the threads in this forum. It idles perfectly, very smooth with the o2 feedback at about 8% on the mitsulogger. But if I held it at an any rpm above that it would sputter and the the o2 feedback would be all over the place.

Are you taking the UTEC out of the loop when you are messing with your injectors through the stock ECU? You had better be.
