Samco Intake Hose

Will a Samco intake hose used with the OEM airbox/drop-in filter affect MAF readings at peak load?

It should have some affect, although I don't know what.

I wouldn't suggest flexible tubing for any intake or IC piping to be honest, though. Hard piping is best.

The Samco is very stout -- no caving in, that's for sure. But it won't perform any differently than the stock intake tubing IMHO, and I'm using one now.

Bump for an answer to this since I have had this question for a while.

My guess is that it should have a minimal effect since the change is being made after the MAF. Assuming that the pressure just before the MAF and just after the MAF are both equal, if this new hose is larger in diameter the velocity of the air after the MAF should drop, maybe this could throw off the reading. But I am sure someone in here could definately clarify this!!!

on my experience i had tune a friends evo using an xede and we had the afrs at 11.0 for 91pump and he just change this hose and the afrs went as lean as 12.2-12.5 we had to readjust the fuel tables in the xede.

Does that mean it was flowing more air?

I was thinking the Samco is affecting the 3000-4000rpm Maf readings...
When I changed out my turbo I added the Samco, since then I noticed my timing is usually 1 degree less than what it is in the Map (0 knock sum and Octane flag 100%). This only happens at peak load (270-275), the rest tracks the the timing map as seen by 2 byte load. I'm running 21-22 psi tapering to 20 @ 7400rpm.

On the move more air point or the Sparky bought it from me?

Yes, Sparky bought it from me. So, the question is, do you think it moved more air or just affected the MAF readings?

I want to revive this thread for a question. On the Samco inlet is it much bigger internally that the stock one. I like the fact its black and looks stealthy but if I have to rescale the MAf anyways will it be better just to get the Dejon tool one which is already 3in?

Not to be a smarta _ _ bit if maf (mass air flow) sensor readings changed then the air flow def. changed. Prolly flowing more air hence change. I have been contemplating a change in the plumbing but want to make sure I can change MAF scaling to compensate there are some good but confusing (to me) threads on this so I am scared to change

I forgot about this...now that temps are more reasonable timing is spot on 2byte load. I'm thinking temperature compensation was playing interferance with timing.

So do you believe the Samco was worth it. Could you visually tell the inside was quite a bit larger than the stock one? Do you think the silcone inlet helps more than the Dejon metal 3in since it wont get as hot either? Trying to decide which one to get
